I have owned one of these scales for amost 2 years. The only reason I am looking this one up on Amazon.com right now is because I want my friends to by one. This scale is accurate to a T. It weighs me exactly the same as the scale in my doctors office. I also belong to e-diets.com and I have told all of my friends there about this scale! I have NEVER tipped over on it. Neither has anyone in my family. I highly recommend it. If I ever needed another scale for any reason I would buy this one again!

i bought this scale three plus years ago and still love it! i find it very consistent (even for those of us at the upper end) and stylish. i've personally weighed two cats, two dogs, and my three babies on it with no problems - along with numerous visitors who only occassionally have questions with zero-ing it (i removed the sticker that says to tap it first). of course being careless with wet feet might cause it to be unsteady, but i've had none of the problems the first user mentioned. heck, i STILL love it and it's been YEARS! i've never before purchased a scale and had it last this long - much less look the same as the day i purchased it. it makes the floor space look larger since so much of it is translucent. i just love it! enjoy...

The glass top gives this scale a really stunning look. It has a very compact yet sturdy design. I really didn't expect to find such an attractive looking scale at this price. Besides that it seems to be highly accurate and easy to use. To turn it on, you just lightly tap a corner of the glass with your toe. Then the display will show that the scale is ready and you just step on. It measures your weight to the nearest half pound and I have not noticed any inconsistencies with this scale. To test the scale, I weighed myself several times during one 30 minute period. Each time the scale read either 174 or 174.5. I had none of the problems that the other reviewer mentioned. The only way that you can lose your balance or cause the scale to tip over is by putting all of your body weight on one corner of the glass with one leg. However, if you use common sense and follow the directions, you won't have this problem. Perhaps the best thing about this scale is that it has a really big easy to read display. You don't have to bend over or squint your eyes to read it and there's no guessing involved as there might be with a non-digital scale.

I bought this scale because it was digital and thought the brand Homedics was reliable. When I rcvd it, I followed the instructions, installed the battery, got on scale to set it and then back on to get my weight. Later on that night I got on it again and was 2 lbs less than earlier, my diet was really working I thought. The next morning I weighed myself and was 3 lbs less than that, I know they always say you way less in the morning but that much? That night I weighed in again and was back to my original weight of the day before, I had gained it all back !! I knew the scale was wrong because I weighed my daughter who is 32 lbs and her weight was coming in at up to 37 lbs at times. I even moved the scale around to different areas of the floor to see if mabye it was due to the floor being uneven but it didn't change.
So... the scale is going back and I'm going to order a good old fashion scale with a dial.

This scale was entirely inconsistent. I used it for a few days before deciding to return it. I tried everything, including different surfaces and fresh batteries, but time after time I got inconsistent readings even when stepping on the scale several times within minutes! I actually NEVER got the same reading twice on this scale unless I tried more than 3 or 4 times in a span of a few minutes. Maybe I just got a defective one? I am tempted to try it again, though, because it is a good price, and I have a few other Homedics products with no problems. I give it a neutral 3 stars because the price is great and I probably just got a defective unit.

I've climbed on this thing so many times to get so many different weights during the same weighing. Utterly untrustworthy! Never again will I buy anything that even sounds like HOM (health o meter). A WOM (waste of money)!

I have benefited from others' reviews so I offer my own here. I cannot comment on the quality of the weight reading or display or accuracy. However, the finish on this scale is NOT "Two-tone brushed brass and nickel finish" as was listed by Amazon when I purchased it in June 2002 (I have brought it to their attention and hope they correct the listing). It is simply colored plastic. The current description of the project sells it based on its high-quality, stylish metal finish. Knowing that it is plastic, I know longer understand why it costs more than the other Healthometer plastic scales, but, there you have it.

I think the scale works well. I'm not reviewing the quality.

This scale is not accurate to the tenth of a pound as stated in the [Amazon.com] Review. It is accurate to the half pound.

This is the worst scale I have ever used. Just like what most of the other reviewers have mentioned, the weight fluctuates even when you measure the weight successively within a minute. The fluctuation on my scale is within 4 lbs. It is very frustrating to use such an inaccurate scale, because it is as good as not using one. I will never trust the Healthometer brand ever.

And for the reviewer who thinks that other reviewers couldn't "follow instructions" and stand still while they weigh themselves, please don't insult other people's intelligence.

I bought this to try and track my weight, but the displayed weight on this scale will vary up to 10 lbs. within a few minutes. Generally I found the further back on the scale I stood the lighter I got. Also, it was very finicky about standing absolutely still.

I wanted a digital scale so that I could keep an accurate record of my weight. The design is nice and the display easy to read, but unfortunately, I didn't get accuracy with this scale. It is annoying to turn on, but more importantly to me, the results vary from moment to moment. If you are looking for a slightly used one, I'll sell you one cheap.

These weight scales do not give accurate measurements at all.
I ordered this exact brand and The arrow was did not start at 0 it started on 10lbs. The arrow kept fluctuating the first time I was thirty pounds heavier the next, I was 20 pounds lighter. Don't waste your time and money buying them!

All we wanted was a decent-looking analog scale that was accurate. This isn't it.

My daughter and I each got on the scale several times and the weights it showed varied by about 40 pounds. My weight went from 198 to 235, with a few stops in between. The item delivered may have been defective, but it didn't appear to be damaged. Considering the huge overall size and relative light weight of this thing, I'll just conclude that it's a .. piece of junk. Mine is being returned for a refund.
