When an offer for this scale came up in my Gold Box, I read the reviews for all of the scales carefully. This one won.
APPEARANCE -- It looks even better than it's pictures; no complaints there.
PERFORMANCE -- Severely lacking. I already HAD a scale, and only bought another to get one that worked a bit better, so I stepped up to the price on this one. I have to say this is the most disappointing Amozon purchase I've made to date. I read the instructions carefully, I know your weight can vary at different times of the day, etc., but this scale is [1] OFF BY MORE THAN 10 LBS. at times, and [2] INCONSISTENT IN CONSECUTIVE READINGS.
I had occasion to visit two doctors yesterday, and in both offices on one of those 'old-fashioned, black n white, slide-the-weight-across jobbies' my weights were within a pound of each other in the two offices. Difference from the measure taken on this Rowenta before and after? 12 POUNDS!!
In this case that is almost a 10% difference, weigh outside my tolerance level statistically.
Furthermore, If you step on it several times in a row in an hour, the numbers vary normally by at least several pounds, so it doesn't even give a consistently wrong measure (so not even a relative gauge of where you stand in respect of weight).
BOTTOM LINE :: ALL AROUND DISAPPOINTING PERFORMANCE BY THIS PRODUCT
Unfortunately for me (despite having an attic full of 'original packaging') I stupidly discarded this product's packaging, so I am stuck. I now have this expensive item that admittedly is okay to look at if it didn't aggrevate me to see it. Hmph.

Our new Rowenta stopped working less than 1 week after we bought it, the display started showing "Err" and then nothing at all. We tried popping the battery in and out to no avail. Thinking it was a bum battery I tried to find a replacement...The store we bought it at...sent us a replacement battery but it did no good, the scale is dead.

Shortly after this review was posted I received an email from the product manager of the US distributor who offered to send me a new battery. So far this battery has lasted a week, time will tell how long before it too runs out. Maybe the third times the charm.

The Rowenta is accurate and consistent, giving the same reading time after time. It is a beautiful piece of technology that would look great in any bathroom.

The special lithium batteries are the weak spot of this product, other electronic scales use standard batteries available anywhere but if you don't mind waiting a few weeks you can order replacement batteries from the Rowenta web site.

Thank you for providing a great pair of scales for obese people. I am very pleased with these scales. With the large platform and sleek design, it is easy to use and step on. I am physically limited and cannot step up. But, these scales are low enough that it isn't a strain on my legs and feet. The read out is clear and large enough to be seen while on scales, as well as quick. I highly recommend these for anyone who has had problems standing on other scales. A wheelchair or scooter can easily be rolled up to these and a person helped up. Great buy.

The Rowenta BS-360 Origin Scale is a very nice product. The primary reason I purchased this was because my old mechanical scale was becoming less and less accurate. Unlike many scales, the Rowenta has NO MOVING PARTS! That means that the measurements are not as likely to degrade over time. That is a huge advantage over traditional scales, what is the point of a scale if isn't precise? As for the accuracy, I think that I will trust Amazon.com when they say within a 1/2 pound. I get the same weight at my doctor's office I get with this scale! Not to mention, Amazon.com has a killer price on this product compared to the department stores in my area.

Why only four stars then? Will the reason I only gave it a mere four stars because the first scale I received was defective. Although it would show the weight correct, the display was neither clear nor correct (lbs, kg, and stones would all "light" up). But don't worry about that, because Amazon.com has wonderful customer service, and they will solve that problem in a jiffy.

Overall, this product would make a great addition to any home. It may be a little more expensive, but the money will be well spent once you see the quality of this product. Kudos to Amazon.com for their great customer service.

This is an excellent scale, beautifully made, easy to read large numbers and very accurate.

This scale is very large, very ugly, very expensive and if it gets wet, stops working for days until it completely dries out. If you get water on it after taking a shower, it won't work! This does not seem a good feature on a bathroom scale. The dual readout is useless, the numbers on the dial part are incomprehensible. The needle lights up but the dial doesn't so it can't be read in the dark. It takes about fifteen seconds to register your weight, and if you get off during this time, it takes about a minute to reset. NOT A GOOD THING TO BUY! I wish I could get my money back. P.S. The scale is accurate when it's working.

I have the rowenta iron and its great so i thought this scale would be as good. It is not. I thought it would be heavy duty but its pretty tinny. The scale is not mechanical, its electronic. Runs on 2 AA batteries (not included i might add...). When you step on it calibrates for up to 5 seconds and then the scale needle lights up and moves to the weight. Cool the first time, annoying the 2nd time - really annoying every time after that. The memory function seemed like a good idea but again, there is such a delay in waiting for the thing you wont use it. The digital readout is also too small and not backlit so you cant see it.

I found the dual display to be great! I am also on a diet and liked the memory feature which allowed me to track my progress. (Although I didn't make much progress as I love to eat - ha,ha.) The display is very easy to read and when you start to get a little older this becomes very important. It is far more accurate than any other scale I have owned. My wife thinks it is a wonderful product and she has been a Rowenta iron fan for years! Best iron ever and seems that the scale is going to be the same high quality we expect from this brand.

Right out of the box I put in fresh batteries and tried out the scale. Within 15 minutes I stepped on the scale 4 times and received 4 different measurements with a 3lb difference in all. It didn't really make a difference where you stood, stepping in the same place produced varied results.

Also annoying was the fact that you had to almost balance yourself on the scale. It does a strange wobbly thing which I don't understand and was quite uncomfortable with.

Easy to read display, but unfortunatly this is going back.
