more efficient than other electric toothbrush
As a dentist, I have tried this toothbrush as well as other electric toothbrush, such as Oral-B. Unlike other rotary toothbrush, this one is unique because of its high frequency of brushing strokes(31,000/min). It is more efficient than other similiar products.

However, I believe that a regular toothbrush can clean as well as any electric toothbrush. It's like driving a car with automative transmission vs manual. Both can take you to the same destination. Electric toothbrush does make one's life easier if one spends the time to use it correctly. And an electric toothbrush's coolness provides some motivation.

Sonicare is a fine product, but it does come with a high price tag. If you are willing to spend the money, this is probably the best electric toothbrush out there. Take the time to brush your teeth, even if you are using a electric toothbrush.

Blows the original Sonicare and Oral B away!
Three years ago, I threw away my Oral B for a Sonicare, and I thought the Sonicare was far and away better than my Oral B. The one dislike, however, was the relatively large head design, which made it a little difficult to reach the rear teeth. About two weeks ago, I got a mailer from the people at Sonicare, announcing their "new and improved" Sonicare Elite model. The ad said the new head design was angled, and featured a new design that clinical tests showed improved cleaning by about 20 percent over the older model. So, I bought it; literally. And after the first use, there is little doubt that the new Sonicare Elite is everything it's said to be. The new angled head and brush design make reaching every tooth easy. And the powerful sonic brush strokes leave your teeth feeling like you've just had a cleaning at the dentists office. This is one amazing toothbrush! Honestly, I don't know why my dentist recommends Sonicare so highly, because the better oral health it provides obviously is cutting into his business. The price is a little high for the 7500 model. The lower model is really a better value, since it includes all the functional features of the 7500. This is just a truly amazing power toothbrush!

Sonicare is the expert in a increasingly important field
The biggest complaint I hear from people about electric tootbrushes is that the replacement heads are too expensive. Come now, that was the type of thinking that would have killed the Industrial Revolution!

For anyone who really cares about dental hygeine or even just the way they look to other people, you can't not use an electric toothbrush anymore. I laughed at the idea at first, but once I began using one I will never be able to use a regular toothbrush again without feeling like my mouth isn't clean. When you go to the dentist--what type of toothbrush does he/she use on you? Electric--for a reason, because it cleans better.

The marginally higher cost of replacing the heads rather than buying an entirely new disposable toothbrush is insignificant when you actually feel as clean as you can when you use an electric brush. Personal dental care has evolved to the next step, and you don't want to be caught be the last person using a slide ruler because you were too frugal to purchase the more expensive but more effective calculator.

Your teeth (and anyone who comes in contact with them) will thank you.

Is it the BEST?
Is It the best toothbrush? Only an independent lab would know, but by my experience of 4yrs with the original Sonicare has done wonders for my teeth! Recomended by my dentist, it has performed beyond my expectations. It really did clean as advertised. This was very important for me as I have a very painful form of neuropathy/nerve disease, so it hurts to hold or manipulate a regular toothbrush,Sonicare allows me to effectively clean my teeth and tongue.Yes you do need to clean the tongue, just don't gag yourself. My dentist had me coming in every 3mo for cleaning and that wasn't getting it. Now I go once a year and there isn't much to clean. It's amazing the difference! My teeth stay whiter, my breath fresher and no sign of gum disease at 56 yo. Thats for a person who can't hold a brush without pain.(Great for people with arthritis, MS, or kids who don't understand how to brush.) The timer is a great idea! One reviewer complained about having to wait. Just ask any dentist it takes that much time to adequatly message the gums, a very important part of brushing. CAUTION: As with any electric brush, you can overbrush causing premature wear to the suface of your teeth. Erosion is the term used by dentist. So if you use any brush and your dentist remarks about erosion on exam, your over brushing. Back off on the pressure, it does not take much pressure to clean effectively with Sonicare. If there is a better brush buy it, but my experience shows the original Sonicare works great! (The heads do get expensive)

Better Than A Manual Toothbrush!
I bought my Sonicare Elite a couple of months ago & am very satisfied with the results. My teeth feel so clean & my gums are getting more pink. I have braces & I want to tell you that my Sonicare does not harm them in any way, infact I found it easier to brush with my Sonicare than the manual toothbrush I was using. By it you won't be disappointed!!

P.S. You can by the Sonicare Elite replacement heads at Amazon.com for only $19.99 (and that's for two) a lot cheaper than Wal*Mart which are roughly around $23.00!

Dental Hygenist Shares the Research
This is a sad day because I was a Sonicare fan. I recommended it to my patients who needed the extra care and really talked it up because it does help but I just recently went to a continuing education seminar on homecare devices and found my beloved Sonicare was not the one that did the best job according to the research. The research was done by independent folks, was funded independently and was carried out such that the results could be taken seriously (valid results). It was done over a long period of time (over years, not weeks) and on very large groups of people. There were other researchers who compared all the research that has been done with rigorous standards to see what their results were too. In all the research presented, they compared all the electric toothbrushes that were out there and Sonicare did not fare as well as the top of the line Oral B (sorry folks, the most expensive model). The research said that the combination of sonic and rotary action over time (within a month or two of use) demonstrated a greater effect on reduction of plaque and gingivitis scores (the plaque and gingivitis levels were lower for the sonic rotary devices (Oral B) compared to the sonic cradle-rock devices (Sonicare)). I you are on a budget, it is still acceptable to use the battery operated toothbrushes as long as you can change the head, the head spins around and you can either recharge or replace the batteries. The sonic action is the greatest in the Oral B top of the line model and that is what helps reduce tartar and staining. It is worth making the switch. I'm sorry if I burst any bubbles but mine was burst a couple of months ago and the findings were significant enough to spread the news.

Sonicare Buy 2 Get 1 Free Brush Head Offer
Beware of Sonicare's Buy 2 Get 1 Free Brush Head Offer. I bought 2 Sonicare brush heads and sent the original UPC symbol to Sonicare. They sent me a postcard stating that it did not receive the original UPC symbol or proof-of-purchase tab.

Although the Sonicare brush is okay, I definitely would not buy another Sonicare product again based on the company's incorrect handling of its promotion offer!

Worth the price of replacement heads

Overrated!
I got this scale because I read that it would store previous measurements to track your weight history. After reading the manual, it apparently does not do that.

Additionally, according to the manual the scale's body fat measurement does not work properly if you are considered "athletic" or "fit", which makes that feature useless for me.

Good for the money, but lack of memory is annoying
We have used the Tanita body fat scale for many years to help us watch our weight and keep track of our body fat. While I loved its usefulness and low price, in the long run we moved on to a new scale.

First, the good things about this scale. It's relatively cheap when you compare it against other body fat scales. It's also easy to use just for weight. You simply kick a button with your toe to turn it on, step on it, and it shows you your weight to within .5 pounds.

Doing the body weight is more annoying though. You have to press a button to get it going, choose adult or child, then choose male or female, and then sit there and scroll through the numbers to find your height. If you miss it, start all over again.

Then you stand on the scale in bare feet. In essence the scale sends a mild electrical signal through your body - you can't feel it at all. By knowing your height and watching how fast the signal takes to get through your system, the scale can determine how much of you is made up of fat. That number is displayed for you after around 5 seconds.

I really liked the scale but found that sequence to get to the body fat REALLY annoying after a while. We moved up to a Taylor system that had a memory so you input your values once and then just "recalled" them later with one button. We also discovered when we did this that our Tanita was about a pound off, and that its body fat measurement was a full 3.5%. So while the Tanita had been good at general ranges, apparently it wasn't extremely accurate.

I'd recommend this Tanita as a great way to get into body fat scales if you don't have one yet. But if you are actually going to start paying attention to it, I'd really recommend going with a unit that has a memory in it. They aren't that much more money and they are VERY worth it.

Read this before buying.
I have this scale and am very pleased with it. It is easy to use and I have had no trouble with it. Also like the body fat feature. Check out the book "Treat Your Own Knees" if you have knee pain- also available here at amazon.
