I see this item has been discontinued or is not kept in stock any longer. THIS IS A REAL SHAME! I *adore* this hair dryer. It's made a load of difference in my super curly hair. It's the ionic thing, I'm sure. It's amaaaaaazing. The diffuser helps a lot too.

The only thing that gives me pause is I'm totally paranoid my hair's going to get sucked in the back. But it doesn't really suck air like that. And I find I keep it out of the way enough. It's just so short, I get paranoid.

I adore it, though. REALLY fast drying, really light, and hardly any more frizzies anymore. Frizzies are banished! I'm also noticing my hair is healthier. Whew. I hate drying my hair with a hair dryer but I have a real mess of hair... :P

Anyways, fabulous, I highly recommend it if you can still get it....

I purchased this dryer after years of wanting one, but not wanting to pay the Sharper Image price of $75.00.

Lately, I've seen them in retail stores for as low as $19.99 but not being one to waste I awaited the death of my current diffuser (but mere mortal) hair dryer. I hated that dryer because the tabs to the diffuser broke off, so if I moved it a certain way the diffuser went crashing to the floor.

So, that said I finally purchased this dryer and it is great. Yes, the weight is heavier than most (but unless you are void of any human strength you will adjust), yes there is a faint metallic smell and yes the hideous purple is...well...hideous. In any case this dryer does what it says and does it well. I don't feel any remorse for retiring my old missing the tabs, non-ionic, diffuser dryer to the guest bathroom for the next unfotunate hair victim.

I have long hair and also little time to dry it in the mornings. This hair dryer dries my hair in about 5 minutes tops. I've never had a dryer this fast and I've had at least 3 or 4. My biggest fear is it not working some day. I'd be lost. No other hair dryer feels the same. You can't go wrong.

I have long, thick, curly hair. Think Kerri Russell without the full time stylist. The humidity where I live makes it very hard to style and even harder to hold the style. Enter this jewel. One handed styling with the comb attachments works wonders and the ionic technology dries my hair faster, shinier, and straighter than anything else I have ever used. A few small issues: the brush attachment is absolutely useless. I would have preferred a concentrator. The fine tooth comb, necessary for a smooth finish, is starting to loose its teeth after only four months. When I have tried to use the dryer without any attachments, it overheats, but this is easily resolved by simply keeping one of the combs on at all times. I love my new soft and sleek look and feel that my hair is healthier than ever before.

I read the reviews and decided I needed a second dryer just in case my other one pooped out when dashing out of the shower for work, so I bought this one. It was a good choice. Fine hair will dry rapidly but this dryer gives the hair more body and shine.
The only thing which wasn't a plus for me was the loudness of the motor when it's on medium, and high is much too shrill near your ears as you dry your hair.
It is worth the price and Amazon is a good place to make a purchase.

Just like a couple of the reviews I just read, this hair dryer was fantastic on the first day I used it. But guess what? On Day 2, the speed switch broke and it only has low speed. I could hear a broken piece inside the dryer and as I used it, it got caught in the motor. I shut it off and won't use it. Headed for the trash--what a waste of money!

Apparently, this is far from an isolated incident; it's called poor quality!

I purchased this hair dryer back in December and I've noticed such an improvement in my hair. Not only is it shinier, but it's much softer! I have thick hair and while it usually takes about 10-15 minutes to dry with a normail hair dryer, it dries within about 5-6 minutes with this one! I love it! I can sleep in a few minutes later because of the time I save every morning... overall, one of the best purchases I've made on Amazon.com!

I was initially put off by the reviews of this item and purchased the Ionic Hairdryer from Conair, but it was "unavailable" for so long that I deleted that order and decided to go with the Vidal Sassoon. I own another (non-Ionic) VS hairdryer and was very impressed with the quality of it, so I decided to give it a try. From the picture on Amazon, I thought that the purple (instead of metallic) color of the dryer made it look kind of cheap and flimsy, but I have nothing but good words for the dryer after using it. It has a lot of power, heat, and I have noticed a big difference in the quality of my hair. I have less fly-aways and my hair actually feels smoother, and I don't have any split ends! It's been two months since I've started using it on an almost daily basis, and I have zero complaints. The only difference I've noticed is that it takes a smidgen longer to dry, maybe 2-4 mintues, but the time is well worth the results. I highly recommend this dryer, and have had no problems with the electrical issues noted by other reviewers...I think that might have just been a "lemon."

This appliance was purchased to replace an older Vidal Sasson 1600 Folding/Travel hair dryer. Since most major hotels supply hair dryers today, giving up the folding handle and travel size didn't seem like a big deal.

Giving up a manageable, convenient, comfortable-to-use appliance for a 'space age' modernistic, not-so-comfortable-to-use appliance...now that has become a big deal.

The matte gold/black finish to the VS762 Gold Series doesn't clash with your color decor, though it may be a little 'glitzy' for some. However, the tapering style of the handle just doesn't seem to offer the comfort-of-use nor the manageability that the older pistol grip design afforded. Additionally, I find that the head is just too long for comfort in drying one's own hair. The style seems better suited to a salon, where another party is applying the heat from a distance greater than half-an-arm's length.

The three speed/three heat feature is a plus; but I just can't be sold on the need for, or the effectiveness of, the 'cold shot' feature. And, I found that I opt for the highest speed 80% of the time, and the lowest the other 20%, so it seems that two speeds is really all that are necessary. I have straight hair, long length. Two speeds fills the bill.

The removable filter is a definite step in the right direction as the older models tend to clog over time. However, the 'hanging ring', though differently placed than on previous models, still doesn't seem to be all that useful. Any hook used for hanging has to be quite long in order for the feature to actually be functional.

There is no question that 1875 watts is an improvement over 1600 watts, but the 1875 wattage is available on many of the newer appliances.

To be honest, I wish I had purchased the Vidal Sasson Model 1875. It features only 2 speeds, but has 3 heats; and it has the more comfortable, easier to manage uniform-in-size handle.

However, if the VS762 Gold lasts as long and proves to be as dependable as all the other Vidal Sasson Hair Dryers I have used over the years, I guess I will stick with this one for awhile. It does get the basic job done, but it is not necessarily an over-all improvement from VS previous designs.

I would recommend thinking awhile about what you specifically like about a hair dryer you might be replacing before opting for a new-age design.

Initially I was so impressed with this product I bought a second one within a week, so I could have one at home and one at the gym. After 4 months, however, the first one refused to shut off. About 2 weeks after that, the other one burned out. I'm not willing to throw away money every few months on any product, so I won't be buying this, or anything else under the sassoon label again.

I read all these cool things about Ion hair dryers, but didn't really believe it until I bought this one--turns out all those things are true! It does leave your hair really soft and silky and takes less time to dru. And it's great for straightening hair and for making curls. Also, one other thing is that it's really light, so your hand doesn't get tired. My only complaint is that I wish the brush attachment was at least 2 or 2.5 inches instead of 1.5. Also, this is the only hair drier that I found that is both Ion and has a brush attachment. Everything else I saw was one or the other or had a much smaller brush attachment. So I definitely recommend this one. I ordered it back in May, but they were all out of these and I only got mine 2.5 months later, but it was definitely worth the wait.

I bought this dryer about a year ago. First time I used it I was in love. I told all of my friends about it - and they all went out and bought one. I couldn't wait for my next hair appointment so that my hair stylist could see how wonderful this product was. He was really impressed - told me I should go out and buy another - just to have on hand. I went to the store that I first purchased one and they were all out! I finally found the dryer again on-line and I am going to buy two!!! I am pretty rough on my blow dryers and this one I have dropped about a million times - my daughter also uses this dryer every day. I have never had any problems with it - I urge everyone to get this dryer - you will love it so much that you won't want anything else to EVER be used on your hair again!!!

I purchased one of these hair dryers and used it off and on for 2 months before the switch, which controls the off-low-high setting, started to slip internally. Now, I can only use the low setting on this hair dryer, which takes forever to dry my hair.

This hair dryer was used lightly each morning on a flat top hair cut. I have no complaints about how it worked, but it broke for no apparent reason about 6 months after I gave it to my husband as a gift. In the middle of the night, the plug started sparking and had to be removed from the outlet. Now the red reset button no longer clicks in. Seems like a safety issue to me, so I'm tossing it.

On the positive side, this hair dryer is very powerful. On the negative side, it's very heavy and makes it very difficult to hold above my head. Regarding the ionic technology, I can tell no difference between it and other hair dryers. Finally, when you close the handle of the hair dryer, it makes a loud snapping sound that makes me think it will break soon! I've used it just two weeks, so time will tell.
