Why would anyone design a waffle maker that is hard to clean? If you like spending your time picking waffle batter out of crevices with a toothpick then this is the waffle maker for you. You also have to remove the waffle before the light goes out or it will be overdone. I judge when I should open the lid by the amount of steam coming out but should I have to? Don't companies test their products before putting them into production? I won't be buying anything by Black and Decker again.

Like the other reviewers, I agree that this waffle maker is hard to clean, especially in the front. There is a nickel-width gap where all the spillover can get into. It's very hard to clean that gap out. Also, it DOES overcook the waffles. So, don't follow the timer. Cook for 2.5 minutes and it's perfect. Decent sized waffles. Looks nice with the chrome finish.

I love Belgian waffles, and I got this for my mom for Christmas so she could enjoy them too. The first machine we had, everything was burnt. So we returned it and got another one. I found out that if you wait until the timer light goes out, the waffles are a bit dark for my preference, but I solved that problem by taking them out before the light went out. CHanging batters also helped.

The size of the waffles is good, and the maker forms a pretty good seal. I havent had batter leak out of it yet, and if i did, it's easy to wipe clean. I have never gotten batter on the lower handle, as I put the batter in the middle of the machine and sort of spread it outwards.

Overall, it's a great waffle maker, and I recommend it.

The first oven didn't work at all. The second of the same model would not get hot. This product is not durable - the fram is flimsy and not assembled properly.

The oven part works well and is insulated so the unit doesn't get overly hot on your countertop. However, the toaster has never toasted well. When you push the toast button you have to hold the back of the oven with the other hand so it doesn't slide across the countertop. We also tried the less expensive Black & Decker model and the toster switch broke after 16 months (rocker type and wouldn't stay down) and it toasted worse than this one. Give me the old heavy duty all-metel models from the 70's... If you just want an oven and have a good toaster, then go for it.

The Black & Decker TRO2200 Electronic Toast-R-Oven/Broiler is a very good, time-saving appliance to have. Toaster ovens are a wonderful device to have for cooking small items like French bread pizzas and bagel sandwiches. It's good for things too small to put in an oven and for which a microwave won't do.

This particular toaster oven is also good in that it is a bit smaller than a typical one. That means you cannot cook some larger items that you would in some other ovens; but, it does have ample room for most items. Living in a small apartment like I do, I find the smaller size a decided advantage.

One negative about this item I must say though is that the recommended pre-heat time of five minutes is far from adequate. I have found that something approaching 12 minutes is better. Also, the heat attained seems to be about 15 degrees less than the dial setting. If a particular food calls for a temperature of 325 degrees, I recommend setting it somewhere nearer to 340 or 345. The cooking times seem to be fine as I don't often find myself leaving the food in the oven for longer than suggested.

Received this oven as a wedding present. Worked OK for about one week then decided to not heat up enough to make toast on the highest setting. It will take you three cycles for one slice. The door DOES NOT stay down (you will burn your hand every time)and the final straw - the knob just broke off for the broiler and cannot be fixed - to the junk heap. Thanks BD.

This Toaster oven is really a piece of junk. I have had earlier versions of the Toast-R-Oven for years and years. This one feels cheap. Not only that, but at the highest "Top-Brown" setting, you are lucky if it just warms the bread up. We are returning it, and buying something else.

After many years of receiving good products through Amazon, this one was, sorry to say, a dud. twice. The first Toast-r-Oven was received with the knob assembly and chrome behind it pulled away from the body of the toaster. Amazon very quickly sent a replacement but this one had the toaster button stuck in the 'in' position. Toasted a piece of bread to see if the button would come 'out' but it didn't. We're returning this one too. The toast was nicely browned though, so if you get a good one, keep it!...

We bought this toaster about a year ago and suddenly the toast button stopped working. You have to hold the button down with your finger to get it to toast.

I have been looking for a LARGE toaster oven and they are hard to find. I like the fact that this model has a timer and bell to let you know when the toast or whatever you are cooking is done. Also, the timer can remind you when you are baking, when to check on or when your dish is done. I like the Black & Decker name. This would be the second toaster oven I have owned made by B & D. I would prefer a 6-slice model but have been unable to find one reasonably priced.

This is a poorly designed, dangerous appliance. Save your money. Save your life. This machine could torch you and your home. This should not be sold. It should not be allowed on the market. The folks at Amazon.com should do their customers a favor and remove this from the rank of available items.

Do yourself a favor. Find a better performing, safer unit than this.

This is the second cheap-o Black & Decker that I've owned. Both are now deceased. When you first get the beast, it's eager to burn your toast. It loves you so much that its sheer idolization makes you glad that you ever welcomed it into your home. Then, ever so slowly, it begins to fade. One day your toast will be just slightly browned on medium. Then you'll notice that the bread seems to toast only where it's closest to the heating coils. By this time, though, you've become so attached, that you're able to forgive a few such shortcomings. When your dog loses a leg, you don't just shoot it.

Unfortunately, this puppy's no dog. In three years, my dearest dream went belly up like an abused hamster. No toast. No heat. No life. I should have known. My last oven was from the same breed, but a different generation. It did the same. Maybe it's time to try a cat.

I purchased this toaster oven/broiler yesterday and returned it today. It didn't work at all. Didn't warm up, didn't light up. I was going to exchange it, but when I saw the poor construction I decided to return it and shop for a different brand. The door doesn't line up, and neither does the flimsy crumb drawer.

Toaster worked fine at first, then about six months later it started taking longer and longer to toast. The oven temp. appears to work fine, however, even at the darkest setting, you must toast a piece of bread twice! Unfortunately, since we received this as a gift and did not start using it right away, it is no longer under warranty and we are stuck with it. If it had still been under warranty, you would have to pay them $5 to ship you a new one. Since their product is defective, I would expect them to pay for the shipping to replace it.

Finally, I can empty my crumbs without lifting my toaster oven. The front opening tray is a change they should have made a long, long time ago. I'll have to admit, before this, my tray was pretty nasty looking. Now I can clean it all the time. I will! Really!

On the minus side, I can't get used to pushing a button to make toast instead of flipping a lever, but I suppose I'll get over it. This is my fifth toaster oven, and except for the inconvenient toast button and the convenient crumb tray, it isn't very different from the first one. However there is another difference. The hanging bracket that fit the last few models won't work with this one, so It has to take up counter space. That's disappointing, but not earth shattering. What really ticks me off is that they don't tell you that BEFORE you buy the thing.

I suspect this won't be my last Toaster Oven, but I hope they're through making changes.

i just bought this toaster and i am returning it.it mostly only toasts one side.one side turns out perfct (top to bottom)while the other side is hardly even started to brown.
it would and is good for bagels without even having a bagel setting.
i also bought the betty crocker 4 slice last week and returned it,that was a really bad one it only browned one side and it burnt the top part and over cooked the middle and did'nt brown the bottom at all.
well my search is still on.oh boy,for crying out loud it's a toaster,i can't belive how hard it is to find a good one.
you would think it is a new invention and the kinks still need to be worked out.
but i think what it is they are working hard to figure out to make them burn out quickly so you are forced to buy a new one often.that's just my opinion.
