This is the best coffee maker I've ever owned. Here is some information that might help you decide if this is the right coffeemaker for you:

1. I have had a number of different coffeemakers over the years and they all end up making coffee that is bitter sooner or later. This includes a high end coffeemaker from Kitchenaid I bought recently that has separate heating elements for the water and the carafe but not a reservoir. Up until buying the Bunn, the only way I could get smooth tasting coffee was to use either a Melitta manual pour system or a French Press. The Bunn doesn't make coffee that tastes like it was made with a French Press - that's an entirely different process. If you want coffee that tastes like a French Press, then you have to use a French Press. But if you want smooth, full-bodied, drip coffee that tastes like it came from a coffee shop, this is the coffeemaker to get.

2. This coffeemaker is designed to stay on 24/7 in order to keep the reservoir of water hot and ready. But, if you are like me and only make one or two pots a day (or less), you can shut the reservoir heater off so as not to waste electricity.

3. It takes just under 15 minutes to heat up a full reservoir of cold water and just under 10 minutes for the water to reach the proper temperature again after making a pot of coffee.

Just three other minor points: 1) Because the Bunn immerses the coffee grounds in hot water, you really need to use Bunn coffee filters so the coffee doesn't flow over the filter. 2) Replacement carafes are inexpensive, particularly in comparison to the Kitchenaid I bought. 3) I've had good coffee in the homes of friends who have used coffeemakers other than the Bunn, but I've never had luck with any except the Bunn.

Being a real coffee lover, our coffee pot is always on from morning until night. With the Bunn coffee maker you'll always have a great cup of coffee. I love the fact that I can make a pot in 3 minutes and it keeps the coffee warm without cooking it. It makes the best quality which is why Bunn is used so much in restaurants. I have owned mine for over 2 years and will definitely replace it when the time comes. I've had so many compliments on my coffee, I'm buying it for relatives for Christmas this year. Another great feature is you can pour any amount of water in the top and get the equal amount of instant hot water for tea, hot cocoa, instant soup, etc. which is great! I can't say enough about this great product! You'll never be sorry you bought a Bunn. You do get what you pay for.
