Cook's toy
This machine is so great I wonder why it took me so long to buy one. I've tried many of the recipes that came with it and they all turned out great. I make the bread recipe every few days so we always have fresh, delicious bread. Making soup is such a snap. It takes longer to wash the veggies than to cut them in the processor. That is so fast I almost feel cheated out of playtime. I tried the mayonnaise this week, and also the pie dough. I use the processor daily and find it easy to use and easy to clean. The lucite cleans like a breeze in warm water or else I put it in the dishwasher. I couldn't recommend this item more highly...

Cuisinart DFP- 11 Cup Food Processor
I have used my food processor everyday since I got it. I don't know what I did without it. Paired with "The Food Processor Bible" by Norene Gilletz, you will make some amazing meals. The time I save on food preparation saves me a lot of energy and time and the unit is so easy to use and clean. The unit is a workhorse, very powerful. I have used it to make whole meals, and making bread is a snap because the kneading is done by the Cuisinart. I highly recommend this machine!

Can't Beat The Cuisinart Food Processors
We purchased a Cuisinart DLC-7 in 1981 and still use it today. Unfortunately, after 20 years of serious use, the bowl is cracked and the slicer needs replacing. The cost to purchase these parts almost equals the price of the DFP-11. The only difference in the two units is a 14 cup capacity verses 11! With our kids gone, the 11 cup is perfect--especially at the price offered. Another 20 years and our kids can fight over it!

The Classic is all I need
My mom has had her classic Cuisinart over 20 years... I decided on this model in hopes of having the same luck. So far so good. I really enjoy the product. It's as powerful as I need and does an all around great job. I got mine at Williams & Sonoma and it came with an extra LExan bowl. Major bonus.

Useful for a number of chores in the kitchen
While I usually chop on a plastic cutting board with a big chef's knife, the Cuisinart makes several tasks a lot easier. Chopping cooked or raw meat is one. If you are making hash from leftover corned beef, a short burst in this food processor is the easiest way to go. For mixing certain pastry doughs (pie or pate brisee) this is also a very good item to have, although you have to be careful to go slowly and not overprocess. The one thing the Cuisinart does is heat up the dough if you whirl it around too much, so you have to be careful. And if you put too heavy a bread dough in, using the plastic bread blade, you can heat the shaft up enough to jam the blade onto the central post and that's a big nuisance. However, with these cautions, the Cuisinart is hands-down my favorite food processor and for shredding, slicing thinly or chopping, pretty much the best kitchen appliance for the job.

Shop for bargains
I got a similar model, (must have been prior to this one)...It doesn't have a couple of the attachments and it has a smaller feed tube, but I can't imagine these things being worth the extra ... I really like how it works though, it is plenty powerful and can be controlled so that you can actually roughly chop things for salsa.

A "gadget" that really works
I bought the Cuisinart food processor last Christmas...as a gift to myself. My husband rolled his eyes when I told him I had bought this..he thought this was another gadget that would get used once and then disappear forever in a kitchen cabinet. I absolutely love this machine...I use it almost everyday from chopping vegetables to making cookie/cake dough. It is easy to use...easy to put together and best off all..easy to clean. I would highly recommend this for anybody who wants something that really works.

Don't Overfill
I thought it would go well with my new Cuisinart Coffee Maker. It seems to take longer than my old Krups unit. If you overfill it simply won't grind the beans. Once you get the hang of the amount of beans to place in, it works OK but still seems to take longer than other grinders.

BUY IT
Let me say I abuse my coffee grinders. The ones I have had in the past have died young because I have dropped them in a dopey morning pre-coffee daze. I have dropped the Cuisinart numerous times and it is warped on one side from me leaving it on the gas stove with the oven on...IT STILL WORKS..just as well as the day it arrived. Best purchase I have made yet and I would buy another but I don't need to.

Large capacity, rugged design
This grinder lives in my kitchen right next to my sink. It is subjected to a continual flow of crud coming out of the sink and floods from coffee spills, and sink overflows, flying dough and vegetables, the works. It is extremely sturdy, and does tend to grind my coffee just as I like.

My only complaint is that it is a little hard to clean; but then I've never had a coffee grinder that was easy to clean.

Don't let the stainless steel make you think it's well made
First - Cuisinart has the worst customer support I've encountered lately. If you should need parts for this, and try to order them, you will encounter a slow-as-molassas and confusing website with incorrect photographs and descriptions, persistant backorders, long hold times, and telephone representatives who really don't give a darn.

I am not basing this on a single call I was unsatisfied with, rather a series of them, all with different representatives.

Our unit is used lightly (1-2 times per week to chop potatoes, onions, and the like, but the plastic portions are incredibly fragile. We are not the only ones - the plastic pusher for the item above is backordered SEVEN weeks.

Avoid this company if you can.

Every Kitchen Needs a Cuisinart
Every kitchen needs a Cuisinart, and after the work bowl of my former much loved 14-cup Cuisinart Food Processor of 20+ years finally gave out, I opted to purchase the new Cuisinart 14-cup brushed chrome model DFP-14BC.

First the aesthetics, this model compliments all my other stainless steel appliances, including my double oven, toaster and microwave, etc. It looks very sleek compared to my former white model. In other words, I'm very pleased with the way it looks.

I use my food processor quite often and shopped around before deciding to choose this particular model. I picked this square-shaped model, similar to my older replaced DLC-7 model, with the two rectangular buttons that 'click'. Since my former Cuisinart of like design served me well 20+ years, this design appeared more durable and was less expensive than another Cuisinart rounded model with oval buttons that looked less heavy-duty.

Other than a few modifications to the food pusher assembly, this new DFP-14BC model is virtually identical to my older processor, and just as easy to use. Even better is the fact that my older DLC-7 discs (with detachable stems) also fit this new processor. So far, I've used the metal blade, which worked like a dream, and the shredding and slicing discs that again work with ease and provide excellent results. Additionally, the motor on this new processor is more powerful than my original model and I can't wait to try it on making bread or pizza dough.

For first time food processor users, a demonstration video accompanies this machine and walks you through everything you'll need to know. You'll never make a pie crust again without it!

Cuisinart
I recieved this for Christmas. I love it, it was so easy to put together and change the parts. I am so glad to have it. Choping is a breeze!

VERY POWERFUL AND EASY TO CLEAN
I highly recommend the Cuisinart Mini-Prep. I've had one for 6 years and it is still running beautifully. For such a small unit it has a surprisingly powerful motor. It can chop or puree vegies, fruits, - even cooked beef, chicken, and fish. When I first bought it I used it mainly for chopping onions, garlic, herbs, etc., but then I began to discover the possibilities. Ofcourse, the portions you are able to prepare are small, but if you're alone or have a very small family, it's a great little machine. Also a breeze to clean (not like the large Cuisinart units). Only negative is that it is rather noisy, however, for this price it is a terrific value. I must add that I bought two other mini processors prior to this one (both by Black & Decker) and was thoroughly dissatisfied with them. The motors were not powerful at all and the blades were in a different position than Cuisinart Mini-Prep. They could not chop more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at a time or it would not run. Neither unit would puree anything, only coarse chopping was possible. If you're looking for a good mini processor the Cuisinart Mini-Prep is it!

Great little helper
I love my mini-prep! I have a large food processor also, but very limited space so this is what I use most of the time. I made lots of baby food with it, chopped nuts, grated carrots, and potatoes the best is chopped onions (less teary eyes). It is so handy. The only down side is that you can't get different sizes of end product. I've had mine for 3 years and have never had a problem with it. Great blade, but make sure your careful when you clean it because it's sharp. Everything comes completely apart to clean, too.

I don't know how I lived without it.
An excellent little workhorse. I am cooking for two, and it handles all my small needs quickly and efficiently: garlic mincing, parmesan grating, herb chopping, pesto making, and more. It speeds up my prep time considerably and takes a lot of the hassle out of using small amounts of various items. I couldn't be happier with it.

This processor is not user-friendly...
Although the DLC-1BC Mini-Prep Food Processor chops and processes food well enough, the safety system makes this processor difficult to use. The safety system prevents the motor from running unless the base is in a certain position, along with the lid being closed and also locked in a certain postion. This is impossible to do with one hand. It is often extremely difficult to with both hands. At times, the lid can be closed in what seems to be the correct position, yet the safety still prevents operation of the processor.

Cuinart Mini-Prep Food Processor
I've owned this product for several years and find it user-friendly and useful for its intended purpose. I use it for chopping onions, chopping nuts, making enough bread crumbs for one recipe, etc. It is not intended for processing large amounts of food but works very well for my needs. I especially like that all of its parts are dishwasher safe, including the blade.

Great for Making Paté
As I already had a full-sized Cuisinart, I debated about buying the Cuisinart Mini-Prep Food Processor. However, I soon discovered that the Mini-Prep was ideal for chopping onions (without tears) and for making paté and chopped liver. Soon I purchased a second plastic work bow,l so that I could use one for chopping the lightly braised chicken livers and the other for chopping onions and hard-cooked eggs.

The Mini-Prep is very easy to use, and it has a strong pulsing action. You use it the same way that you would use the larger Cuisinart food processor. After a brief pulsing, you use the small plastic spatula to scrape down the sides of the container and pulse the contents again. The ingredients are always chopped uniformly. If you want something more puréed, you just pulse it a bit longer. You can reverse the small blade for different ingredients. The booklet that comes with the Mini-Prep is very informative about which side of the blade works best with different items.

One caution: the blade of the Mini-Prep is very sharp! I cut myself the first time I used it. So now I handle it with care. I wash the blade by hand, but I put the containers in the dishwasher.

3rd time is not a charm
I have owned 3 of these little processors, problem is the motor keeps going out. After 3 dead motors, I've decided to move on to Kitchenaid. Sorry Cuisinart.

a lemon?
I make yoghurt smoothies everyday and bought this mini cuisinart processor to use as a spare when my old mini Krups is dirty. The cuisinart mini is a TERRIBLE machine. It has too many safety features, making it more difficult to position the bowl correctly than the Krups. Spills happen. Also, it is incredibly noisy. This is a significant problem in itself, because you have to run it for what seems like forever to get it do its job, because the cuisinart cannot even puree a banana. After a few minutes of processing, big chunks of banana still remain. I don't have this problem with the Krups. Maybe mine is a lemon, but based on my experience, anything is better than this. By the way, now when I want quicker results with the banana I mash it with a fork first.

great for pesto!
A few years ago a friend gave me a hand-me-down full-size food processor, but I had never used one before and was intimidated by the size and all the different blades, and never used it. This summer, with my basil and parsley growing in unprecedented quantities, I discovered my blender was not adequate for making pesto so I purchased the Cuisinart Mini-Prep. It's easy to use and not intimidating at all. I will second what one of the other reviewers said, though: it was not obvious that the lid had to be locked in a certain position as well as the base, and the first time I hit the Grind button and nothing happened, I thought I had bought a dud. With a little fiddling around, I finally figured it out, and the pesto that came out was of uniform consistency (unlike my chunky blender version) and delicious.

How the heck does this work?
Can anyone write a description of how you put the discs in this as each disc has a white plastic tube that seems to interfere? I know I'm terrible with spatial relationships--please help!!!

guess what you're buying
you don't list what size cuisinart it's for: 7, 11, or 14 inch food processor. Who's going to buy an unknown piece of equipment?

It's all right, but it could been a little bigger!
If this holder is bigger, it would been a better design. I would definitely recommend the bigger one that [Amazon.com] has for sell now. When I bought this item, [Amazon.com] only has this one for sell, so I went ahead and bought it. I wish I could return it and buy the bigger one. But I believe I am a little too late though. ...
