My wife and I were shopping for Brita filters at the store down the street and I was pretty scared when I saw these filters were the only they had. What I basically thought was, oh man, Brita has made a new filter and we are all going to have to upgrade. HOW WRONG I WAS ABOUT THAT. BRITA HAS TOTALLY OUTDONE THEMSELVES WITH THIS FILTER!!! NOT ONLY DOES THE FILTER SAY: NEW! NOUVEAU! ON IT, BUT IT IS ALSO CHROME PLASTIC INSTEAD OF WHITE. THIS MORE THAN JUSTIFIES PAYING THE REGULAR PRICE FOR THE FILTER INSTEAD OF THE USUAL DEEPLY DISCOUNTED PRICES WE WERE PAYING A MONTH OR SO AGO!!

GO AMAZON!! GO BRITA! WHAT WILL THEY THINK OF NEXT???

It's a great concept & a great price! I wish it was a little easier to drink out of. You have to actually squeeze it to force water through the filter. Also, it does tend to leak a little. I have ended up using it primarily next to my bed & has been great for that. I can just refill from the bathroom sink! :)

Strong,reliable and leak proof, these bottles fit very nicely in bicycle cages. When touring, these bottles do a wonderful job of reducing the chemical flavor of many local municipalities water supplies, especially in the mountains. Although the carbon filters reduce the water flow slightly, a good squeeze will quench your thurst...

This is the largest Brita pitcher I could find - 50% larger than the original pitcher (3 qts vs. 2 qts). We use a lot of filtered water, including cooking spaghetti, filling the room humidifier, etc., so the larger size is more convenient.

It does require removal of the whole lid to refill - the "Deluxe" model is similar, but has a flip-top to refill more easily.

Be aware that when full, this model is heavier to handle, especially as it extends out due to its shape - so it is a little more awkward than a gallon jug of milk even though it holds less.

Brita has good customer service over the phone, but the warranty for the pitcher is only 90 days. (Ours tend to get cracks in about 3-9 months.)

The water filtration is excellent, but you must remember to replace the filters at the proper interval (about monthly) to maintain the water quality. Some other models have built-in reminders - we just replace it at the beginning of each month.

Note that Brita does NOT soften water or take out sodium - it does take out Lead, Mercury, and other metals and contaminants. It also improves the taste.

I've been using the Brita faucet mount for 2 years now. Our water is VERY hard, with sulfur smells and rust, and the Brita works as well as our reverse osmosis unit, which has three in-line filters. Plus, it doesn't slow down like the reverse osmosis unit does when using lots of water (family gatherings, etc). It is NOT as fast as normal tap water, so don't go thinking you'll get tap-water speed out of such an intense filter. I have to replace the filter approximately every 2-3 months, depending on usage. Very handy when the r/o unit starts running out of water. I tend to use both the r/o and the Brita when filling a pot for boiling, etc just to make it go faster. I've used both the PUR and Brita, Brita works better on our water, although, for best taste, I also run it through a pitcher filter (as I said, our water is BAD). Tastes better than spring water!

There's no doubt about it -- you need water because the human body is up to 70% water by weight. Most people love water, and certainly coffee is a strong second. Even if you don't like water or coffee, and you are still looking here, you need good tasting water.

I bought a Brita pitcher originally because I was looking for the best cup of coffee. If you want GREAT coffee, water that's clean, cold and fresh is essential. I found the Brita filter pitcher to deliver--clean and cold (when refrigerated), although I can't really confirm the claimed characteristics of "soft".

This model is my second Brita and the things I like about it most are the space saving flat sides which take up less space in the fridge than the original rounded model, the capacity of three quarts which is enough for a couple of glasses of water besides a full twelve pot coffee maker, and the convenience of the flip top lid where you fill the pitcher.

This pitcher gets a little heavy on the arm and wrist, but no more so than a gallon milk jug. The water weighs about six pounds and the pitcher about two pounds for a total of about eight pounds. The rubberized grip on the pitcher helps assure a good grip, and if you are in the habit of storing your pitcher in the fridge, it works best if you adjust the shelf on which you set the pitcher a little above waist high.

Emptying the pitcher before refilling is no big deal as the filter will not dry out just because you pour out all the water. Just don't let the pitcher sit with a water level below the bottom of the filter as it is installed in the pitcher.

One final thing is there always seems to be little carbon particles in the bottom of the pitcher. They come out of the filter with use. Personally, I've never been fearful of those little things because the human body is also about 23% carbon. I don't think I would see them so much if the water wasn't so clear, though. Brita water is so good I won't drink tap water anymore anywhere! I've bought one for myself (I also have the small water bottle by brita) one for my mom in Toronto (for when i visit) and one for my mom in law in New York for when I visit there! It is really great and the fact that I can see the difference in the water and in the color of my teas and coffee is the real clincher. I would reccomend this or any Brita pitcher to everyone.

I personally have this model and it is so easy to fill with the flip top. Also the rubber grip makes holding the pitcher comfortable and effortless. It gets a little heavy when it is full but maybe I'm just weak. Since we've bought it I drink so much more water (which is a good thing) and I love the taste.

If you want cleaner water to drink, or just water that tastes better, Brita could be for you. It's easy to make the water and to take care of the Brita pitcher. All you have to do is keep the filters clean and keep refilling the pitcher with water. The Brita will filter the water by itself, just fill it up.

If you would like healthier and better tasting water, I recommend getting Brita. Both the 3-quart and 2-quart Britas are great, just decide which size you think you would need for your refrigerator.

I purchased this unit and within two weeks the connection to the faucet started to leak.
Try one of the under the sink filters instead, they are more cost effective and convenient.

This seemed like a good idea since I always liked the Brita pitchers but found them to take too much space in the kitchen. However this is not worth the hassle and money. It takes a lot of tinkering with the washer/screw mount and placing the filter exactly in the holder to make a seal tight enough so water doesn't spurt out. And I can't get the indicator light to reset to green when I replaced the cartridge. (I tried everything the manual suggested - yes ... keep the instruction manual). Overall - very cheaply made. On the plus side, it does make the water taste a lot better and it doesn't take up space in the fridge or counters.
