Now I have a solution where I can shake a colander full of pasta and not lose it all over the sink. It works like a standard colander, but the enhancement of a lid adds the ability to twist and shake to get more water out.

The lid also serves as a colander in it's own right, and that's for items which are served well by a shallow colander.

I had this & I ended up giving it to my kids to play with outside in the sandbox. It is not very useful at all for draining spaghetti, or other very hot liquids. The handle on the bottom section is actually hollowed out & when you pour the liquid it tends to run back into the handle and you can get burned when you are lifting it out of the sink. I love Tupperware, but this is a real dud; it is beyond me how this won so many awards.

I'm not sure why the other consumer disliked this so much - I received mine 7 years ago as a wedding gift and it has become a standard piece of equipment in my kitchen. It is versatile and sturdy. while the handle is indeed hollowed out, mine has a dam built in so that any hot water that gets into the handle stops well before it burns your fingers. I've never had a problem with this product at all - even my kids have spent hours playing with it and yet it still looks brand new.
