What a lifesaver if you're canning!
This is my first year canning, and because I'm a bit lazy I didn't want to have to peel anything, let alone strain it by hand to get all the seeds out. I ordered this Villaware fruit and vegetable strainer to give me a hand with peaches and tomatoes. The instruction booklet helped me put all the pieces together, although the clear plastic funnel that shoots the seeds and skins out after the juice and pulp are extracted and pushed through the strainer is hard to attach, and I'm afraid it's going to crack each time I put the machine together. Cleaning the parts was not half as bad as I expected. After all is said and done - this is definitely the way to go!! This strainer gets the job done with minimal effort and is a real timesaver!! I'd recommend it to anyone who's going to be canning lots of tomatoes or, if you're into the "natural" stuff, making your own baby food.

Borrowed from a friend
In the summer, during strawberry season, I had borrowed one of these terrific machines from a friend at work. He had all of the attachments, so I was able to use the berry screen. I washed the berries, but left the hulls on to see what it would do. Well, I got perfect results when it hulled and de-seeded 9 quarts of strawberries in less than 1/2 hour. The cleanup wasn't much of a challenge when weighed against the amount of work and mess I would have made without it.

I made wonderful strawberry jelly with the juice and pulp, that I still get mention of when I see the people I gave some to. I had to get this machine so I can repeat last year's success without having to borrow my friend's machine again.

Old Victorio Veg Strainer
I also have the old original version of this gadget. It would do 8 bushels of tomatoes for me every summer. Cleaning the strainer was the hardest part but weighed against the dollar savings,it was well worth it.My hubby melted my spindle years ago and I've been unable to replace it. Its a great machine. I used to set it up on picnic table outside and the kids in the neighbourhood would love to help me. In one 16 hr day I could master 2 bushels with their help. Its nice to see a newer version on the market

Great shaker with "Super" tight strainer/lid...
I really like this shaker but wow that shaker is really in place! I suppose it's a pretty good thing too because I have used other shakers and while shaking up the mix the top went flying and the icky-sticky stuff took a trip around the room. I use mine mostly for making Margarita's. I love that you can keep it in the freezer after cleaning so that it's nice and frosty when you are ready to use it. But........you better work out those fingers and hands cuz brother that lid is tight! I've found the best way for me to loosen it's grip is to hold with one hand and slightly twist with the other while pushing up.

Great Little Shaker
I like this a lot. It is very compact and easy to use. I like the built in ice strainer. You just slip off the cap and pour. No hassles of the top jamming and having to beat it open with a knife. You will need a finer strainer if you want to filter out citrus pulp, for example. But for most cocktails you are just straining out the ice. But I like this one for it's convenience.

Solid construction. Will last forever!
Don't waste your time on cheaper brands. This shaker will stand the test of time. Unlike other reviewers, my shaker is not too tight at all, though I imagine freezing it would make it hard to pull apart. You can't go wrong here. ZH
