Great value, extremely versatileI bought several pieces of Cuisinart cookware, but this pot is my favorite in the product line. I have only one suggestion for improvement - add an accessory for steaming fish and vegetables -then it will be the perfect 'cooks-it-all' pan.

Circulon Classic 12 QT covered stockpotAfter having purchased a wide variety of stockpots, I find this particular one a great buy. I mainly purchased this pot to cook my meatball/crab sauce. I usually cook a lot at one time, so I needed a large pot with a lid so that the ingredients would not boil over the top. I find the shape of the pot along with the high dome lid exceptional. I also have to mention that I cook on a glass top electric range. This pot stays put.
It does not slide all over the place like my other pots do. I like it so much I am ordering the 12qt pot for my son who also loves to cook. The price of the stock pot was well within my budget. Fantastic buy. I would recommend this pot to everyone.
best investmentI usually cook a kind of rice soup that always stick to the bottom of the pot but i've tried with this one and it didn't stick at all.
If you need a stock pot this size, stop looking around before they're all gone. this is best with no shipping or tax. bravo Amazone!

Good little stockpotThis good little stockpot fits the bill very nicely. The copper disk on the bottom acts as a decent heat diffuser, particularly if you follow the instructions and keep the heat on medium or low. The handles usually stay cool enough to drag the pot around on the stovetop (though they will heat up uncomfortably if you've got a full pot on high boil). The shape of the pot (sides almost as high as the pot diameter) means that liquid can simmer overnight without reducing too much, or all evaporating away. The size is small enough to fit on the top rack of the dishwasher, and big enough to make stock from a whole chicken (this past thanksgiving, I boiled up the broken-up frames from two 12-pound turkeys).
My only objections to this pot are that the lid is very light, without the heft or deep draw of the All-Clad or Kitchenaid lids, and that the handles are so low down on the side of the pot that it's hard to hang it on my kitchen grid (I have a Heller grid system, with plastic hooks). Considering the price difference between this and the All-Clad, however, that's not a deal-breaker.
If you're planning on doing some blanching, you probably want to get the Everyday Stainless pasta set (which is this pot with an insert). Putting the pot itself in cold water will only cause the copper disk on the bottom to separate off: copper is more heat responsive than stainless, and will shrink and grow faster in response to rapid temperature changes. This is the other reason why the higher end pots are aluminum "clad" with stainless for the whole pot, and not just a disk on the bottom. (And for stock, if you know how to care for a pot, it's not worth the extra money).
It's absolutely my favorite pot! When I opened the box and felt the wonderful finish for the first time, I was hooked. In terms of the sensual, this is the smoothest, nicest feeling piece of cookware I own.
Visually, this piece is a treat. I love the way the brand name is visible on it's side. The fine reputation of this company appeals to the snob in me, and the signature on the pot says I have good taste in cookware. Yes, this is a bit of a joke, but not entirely.
I was amazed at how FAST water boils in this pot! Incredible! And the ease of cleaning is fantastic! All stainless steel does in fact get marks and stains, but the finish is so good on this piece, I simply wash and dry it, and put a tablespoon or two of white vinegar in it after cleaning, put the lid on, let it sit overnight, then rinse and dry. Perfect! No harsh chemicals, no scratchy cleansers.... This technique does not work on my other stainless steel.
The pot is heavy, something I like in cookware. It has well designed handles that really do stay cool. It serves it's purpose magnificently. It heats evenly, and I assume this is due to the aluminum bottom.
I searched for a long time to find a pot of this size by the way. Five quarts is so perfect for s single person household, yet for some reason, stockpots of this size are scarce as hen's teeth it seems.
I love this pot! It has me convinced that I want a teakettle made by these people.
Thank you Cuisinart for such a beautiful product!

Not the right pot for steaming! It's probably fine for ordinary cooking but in recipes where the lid needs to seal this is not your pot.
