Too Heavy...
One of my favoritesI started my good knife collection with a set of 3 of these International Classic knives. I later decided to get a larger set (9) of the 4 Star series, some of the finest knives in the world. However, I prefer this chef's knife over the 4 Star one. The grip is heavier and makes the balance a bit nicer.
For the paring knife, I much prefer the 4 Star one, so I wouldn't recommend the set of 3, but this knife is great. I use it all the time. If you are starting out on a knife collection, I recommend these things:
-a 4 Star 3-inch paring knife (or 2 if you are lazy with clean-up)
-this Chef's knife
-a cheap and large bread knife
-a medium sized 5-6in utility knife (good quality)
-a honing steel (good quality)
-a wood block to put them in (good knives should not be shoved into a drawer with other knives)
-[optional]a carving set of knife and fork, if you need carving utensils (I don't much)
I'd weigh the cost of these together against getting a more expensive set (if you are on a budget).
An excellent valueThe handle appears to be synthetic; it grips like wood, but doesn't swell up, loosen or stain. Fits the hand nicely, too. At 8" long it's a good all-around blade, suitible for almost all kitchen cutting needs. It's got some heft to it as well. Made of high-carbon stainless, it holds a very sharp edge but it's not impossible to sharpen. A few strokes on the steel every time I use it keeps the edge cutting like new.
My knife block has now been reduced to just two blades: A serrated knife for bread and other tough skinned items, and this.

- Special serrated edge never needs sharpening
- Three-piece knife set: 8-inch chef's, 5-inch utility, 3-inch paring
- High-grade, rolled stainless steel capable of withstanding extreme stress
- Polypropylene handle is impact and shock resistant
- Dishwasher-safe, but hand washing preferred
List price: $45.00 (that's 44% off!)

If Only....My wife brought these into our combined kitchen (she loves them)so I use them once in a while but on soft items like raw chicken they just pull and make a mess.
I have some Nice henkles that I brought that live in the closet in the other room, when ever I am doing anything in the kitchen I take the walk to get them, Sharper and Safer IMHO then the eversharps. Plus the eversharps do not fell right in my hand...
Nowhere near as good as genuine Wusthof or Henckels...

For the money... you can't go wrong!!While this is a great set, it is not a high-end set, so you may want to look elsewhere if that's what you're after. None of the knives have a full-tang (where the steel goes all the way through the handle) or rivets. The handles are plastic. Also, the steel is from Japan (if I'm not mistaken) instead of Germany and boy, do the Germans know how to make steel!
So, dear friends, if you're looking for a set that you can pass on to your children and your children's children then you should indeed move up the Henckels line or look into Cutco (my favorites) or another high-end set. If you're looking to buy a good, inexpensive set that looks great and is every bit as functional, then look no more!
Also, consider looking into a pair of kitchen shears... they're indespensible!

save your money for a better set
International NeversharpBecause the paring knife can't be sharpened it is unsafe and unpleasant to use normally. The fillet knife is completely useless because it is not sharp; filleting is not a sawing type of cutting action. The chef's knife is too flimsy for the tip to be used effectively; the knife will bend. The knives are unsuitable for chopping or mincing almost anything on a wooden cutting board, because the serrations will grind into the wood and create a wood paste in your food. It is impossible to put a sharp edge on the knives. They can be damaged easily because of the thin stainless steel construction.
Henckels is doing tremendous damage to their reputation by selling these terrible K-Mart grade knives to people who don't know any better. The knives are made in Japan but they are closer to low grade Chinese products. They have nothing in common with Henckels' good and expensive German knives. I would not recommend buying them to impress your friends with your block of Henckels knives; anyone with any knife savvy will see that they are garbage.
These knives are a product for a very specific market: people with not much to spend, who never intend to sharpen or hone their knives, and for that matter who cannot be bothered to care for the knives. For those folks, the knives work about as well as anything else on the market. They are stainless, so they won't rust. All the knives in the set are serrated, so they will work just as well after ten years of use without sharpening. The knives are light weight because of their cheapness, so that could be a plus for some.
Read the Amazon[.com] article "How to Buy: Kitchen Knives". (When you read this article notice that the stainless steel in the Neversharps is not a recommended blade material, and serrated knives are recommended only for specialized purposes.) Then, if you need to keep the cost down, get a set of Sabatier high-carbon or high-carbon stainless knives for half the cost of these ones. If you take care of them they will perform far better than the International Neversharps.
Those darn little serrations...

Henckles knives
poor quality knife blockI am very disappointed and will be returning it for a refund.
excellent valueIn the future, I hope to purchase a top quality JA Henckels knife set as this company comes well recommended by industry chefs and professionals.
All the really good knief sets are expensive aren't they? In a word NO!
These are great.
Sharp, they seem to be holding the edge, diswasher safe so far, and
they look good to.
I may buy a second set, I use these for every thing from cutting pbj to
the toughest cuts of meat.
