Knife Block Reviews

I just received this block, which is beautifully crafted and has the amount of slots that I need (although some might say that you only need 3 knives, I can't help myself). The one drawback of this block is that my slightly larger that 2 inch wide Chef's knife does not fit in any of the 3 chef knife slots. All 3 slots are 2 inches wide. I have a cleaver, so couldn't use that slot for this knife. Fortunately I realized that I could enlarge one of the slots to fit the knife. I used a thin handsaw and a wood file. After 10 minutes I was able to easily fit the Chef knife.
But I see from another review that I am not the only person who has this issue. I would think that if you are designing a 22 knife block it is for a person with a wide assortment, and you should include a few larger slots. But after my slight adjustment I'm very happy with the block.

It is good, it is heavy, it fits well on the kitchen counter. My only concern for this block was the number of steak knives it could handle. (Not enough) otherwise it is an excellent kitchen block and I highly recommend it.

I especially liked this product because of it's many slots. It is the biggest block, it's nice and heavy and it allows you to purchase individual knives as opposed to a packaged set. Now when I buy another knife I can slide it in it's slot, not in a drawer somewhere. Hope this helps you buy this product.

I have owned my knife case for a couple of months now and I would never recomend this case to anyone. In the time that I have owned it, the case has lost a latch to open it, the stitching holding the case together is coming apart, the webbing holding the knives down is loose, allowing the knives to rub one another, and the devider seperating the kniives hase ripped. I am currently looking for a replacement for it.

I've had my knife case for almost 12 years now, and it still keeps up with the abuse that comes with my profession as a chef. It was given to me by the knife sharpening guy as a thank you gift for the business, i had given him. Day in night out, it has been reliable, and worn well (even though it looks as good now as it did then)This case keeps my babies, (yes i said babies) save and sound, everyone has become accustomed to seeing me with my knife bag, where i go, they go, and even though i've had my henckel 4 stars for much longer, the case still gives them the ohhhs and awwes, from being protected. This is a must for the serious.

My daughter purchased the knife case for my birthday. I am an avid saltwater fisherman and, as such, need an assortment of knives, cleaning tools,and sharpening steels. I have many different shapes and sizes. This case is absolutely the best. It is designed wisely and is constructed very well. I thoroughly recommend it.

I live in an apartment with a tiny, galley-style kitchen. I have next to NO counter space. I was fed up with having the small piece of counter next to my stove filled up with a spice rack AND a knife rack AND a utensils jar.

I found the Henckel's magnabar here on amazon and gave it a try. Now I am not your Miss Fix-It type so maybe others would not have this problem, but I found it awkward to mount this thing on the wall next to my stove. The end caps of the bar, which you use to set the screws in, and the top and bottom edging of the bar are plastic and rather flimsy. By the time I got the bar up and stable, one edge of the magnabar had bent/come loose. After sinking the screws into my wall, I didn't want to stop and return it, so I just put the "bad side" back toward the corner where it won't be as noticeable.

I do really enjoy having more counter space and all the knives lined up on the bar looks great, but I have to admit I expected a higher quality product from Henckels.

Seriously, I thought this bar would be just the thing to help me organize my too-small kitchen which is always strewn with knives, bottle openers, spatulae, whisks, and other kitchen implements. I also wanted something to keep my sharp knives away from my hands so that I could reach for things on the counter without worrying about stabbing myself.

This magnetic strip fits the bill perfectly. I was worried at first that it wouldn't be a strong enough magnet to hold my chef's knife, but it is. The knife is held very securely and forms a tight magnetic "seal" that breaks when you twist the knife away from it. If you bump the knife, it just rotates on the magnet - you'd have to be a real klutz to whack it hard enough to knock it off by accident. ...

I was also worried that the metal magnet would nick my knife edges. That's not a problem as long as you're careful how you put the knife on (back edge first).

I recommend this product without any reservations!

I purchased TWO of these, because I wanted the extra security of a stronger magnet, but now I can't even get the knives off without impaling myself, so when I need to chop an onion I just throw it at the magnet a couple times.

Unless you have way more counter space than you know what to do with (and aren't you lucky if you do), or have empty drawer space and nothing to fill it with, this is the knife storage solution for you. Plus, your knives look much cooler on a magnet than in a block of wood, and you'll feel like a professional chef.

It can be mounted wherever you have 17.5" of wall space. It holds knives firmly, but they will release with a slight tug. Knife blocks are overated. Get this instead.
