The set was very appealing at first but when I washed the knives the first couple of times, they started to rust. I've only had this set for 2 mos. now and they look to be one hundred years old.I agree, the price is very reasonable, but not reasonable enough just for the few times I've used it. Might as well have bought disposables. Had to throw them out..dont think its safe to be cutting food i'm actually going to put in my mouth with a knife thats loaded with rust.

The Amazon staff writeup is absolutely accurate. These are low-end, stamped, serrated knives. They never need sharpening. Well, actually, they CAN'T be sharpened, so when they stop cutting well, you throw them out. Also, due to the serrations, you actually tear the food, rather than slicing it cleanly. That's why all of the high-end brands have keen, "razor" edges for almost all of their knives. You only really need serrated edges for things like bread and tomatoes; anything with a hard outer layer and a soft interior.

My roommate owns a set of the Farberware knives. I have a low-end Henckels knife that I use instead. I've also just ordered a set of the Wusthof Grand Prix knives. They are forged, not stamped, and have keen edges.

So, if you cook even once/week, get a decent set of knives. You don't have to get the Wusthof Grand Prix. Take a look at the Henckels Gourmet line. That's probably one of the best set of stamped knives that you can get. One step down from that is the Henckels International line.

Keep in mind that it's better to have just two good knives rather than a complete set of bad ones. Spend more money on the chef's knife since you'll use that the most. Then get a decent utility knife for everything else. A set like that might cost about [$$$] for low-end Henckels. Then you'll have a pair of knives that you won't regret keeping for years. And they can be re-sharpened!

I would recommend this product to anyone who likes to cook but isnt exactly looking to spend lots of money. Trust me it will do the job you need for the chef of the house. Sturdy and stays sharp you will never have to sharpen again...

The carousel did not look as nice as it did in the photo, the knife handles were kelly green (in the photo they appeared black or hunter green) and I felt the handles had a very plastic look to them. The cutting surfaces seemed good. The gadgets fall off the holders. I am not pleased with the set

I THINK IT IS A GREAT VALUE. ESPECIALLY FOR POEPLE STARTING TO EQUIP THEIR KITCHEN WITH A LIMITED BUDGET. I WOULD LIKE TO ORDER TWO MORE SETS BUT I WOULD LIKE BLACK OR WHITE?

I was most pleased with this choice, and how quickly I received my order.

However, upon opening the packages for placement upon their proper pegs around and in the carousel, one (1) item was discovered to be broken in transit.

I found nowhere in the "help" menu to inquire how I might get a replacement for the 1-TBSP measuring spoon. I do NOT wish to return the whole of the order for this small item.

Please direct me to whom I should write to get a replacement for the 1-TBSP measuring spoon.

This is the absolute WORST thing I have ever purchaced for my kitchen! The knives are rusted at best if not totally broken! One steak knife actually broke while I was cutting BUTTER! The "block" is total garbage too. The cheap plastic handles on the knives look and work terrible and are dangerous. I used some common sense and bought a decent set of Sabatier knives for $... on sale that will last forever. I will never buy cheap Faberware again.

Where do I start? The knives became discolored after running them through the dishwasher, the utensils don't hold up well to heat, many of the utensils handles broke, and I can't get the carousel to come clean (the grease just will NOT come off). Yes, it's inexpensive, which is why I bought it in the first place - but it's not worth it. Spend the extra money and buy another brand - any other brand.

You get what you pay for when it comes to this set of knives -- not much. After a few years of use we've thrown away more than half of the utensils (although we do use the ladle to scoop out fresh kitty litter). The knives have started to develop rust spots after a couple of runs through the dishwasher, and the ones that aren't getting rusty are so dull, we might as well throw them away.

I used this set as a college student and now that I'm a graduate I got a Henkel's Eversharp Pro set on sale for just a bit more than what was paid for this set. Do yourself a favor and do the same.

I purchased these knives several years ago, and immediately noticed rust spots on the blades after a few runs in the dishwasher. The plastic utensils worked wonderfully until a week ago, when i accidently left one of the spoons in a pot of boiling water. technically, it's still a spoon, but it's tough to tell by looking at it.
i also found out the hard way that those rust spots aren't just on the surface, they eat through the blade, as i had one snap in half on me while slicing a potato two nights ago...not the handle, but the actual blade. had any of my fingers been in different positions, i wouldn't be able to type this review.

This set claims to be completely dishwasher safe, but the knives started showing rust spots the first time I washed them. The large spoons melted and warped stirring boiling water and the stand's straight up slots make a great place for dust to gather thats impossible to clean.

The plastic spoon melted when I washed it in the dishwasher. I would suggest washing these by hand because they are very light and tend to "fly around" in the dishwasher.

The knives are a great item for the price.

The carousel is very convient to keep all the knives and utensils in one place.

Bought this and loved the fact that it was "dishwasher safe," and believed because it was Farberware it was a good product. After four months of use, all the knives have little dots of rust appearing. DO NOT BUY THIS SET!!!

This 16-piece knife set sounded great, said it was dishwasher safe, and was Farberware. After five months of use, every knife in the set has started rusting! Too bad Amazon doesn't have a zero star in their rating--that's what this item deserves.

I gave these 2 stars because they do manage to cut, however they discolored/stained the first time I put them in the dishwasher, very lightweight. The carousel is pretty flimsy also. Save your money and invest in a quality knife set!
