Knife Set Reviews

I purchased two sets of these when I moved into my new townhouse. When I pulled them out of the box, they looked kinda strange; the angled bend seems much larger in person than in the pictures.

After using them for about 5 months, I have to say that I'm quite satisfied with them. To begin with, their simple design makes them extremely easy to clean; you don't have to worry about grime in small crevices. The forks are great, they actually pierce food without too much struggle ;) The two different spoon sizes are just right. And finally, my favorite part about this set, they're exteremly strudy!

Oh and I almost forgot, great price, too!

I bought this set about a month ago after an exhaustive search for some simple, elegant, and modern silverware. I looked at this and the JETSET line as well, but after reading on target.com other customers' reviews of JETSET (problems with rusting) I settled on this, the less expensive of the two. It is beautiful and I have not had any problems yet. For the price, I give it five stars, though I do wish it was a little heavier. The forks and spoons don't bend under pressure, but there is a little bit of give, far less than you would expect for silverware at this price, or even twice the price!

I bought this set a few weeks ago and they are VERY nice looking. I haven't gotten a chance to use them yet. I don't plan on it until I move into my apartment soon, but from the other reviews and what I can tell, I love them.

I bought this flatware from Target a couple of days ago. It is an absolutely gorgeous set, but, unfortunately, I had to return it.
All of the pieces are heavy, and this particular set is high maintenance. In the care note it said hand wash only and not to use detergent with lemon in it (which I use all the time).

I would recomment Shangri-La if you want to impress your picky guests, and don't mind washing your dishes by hand after they leave.

I would not recomment it for your family to use everyday, especially if you have smaller children.

We bought 2 sets of the Shangri-La flatware from Target almost 2 years ago. We wash them all the time with lemon detergent with no ill effects. They are made of a very heavy metal, but I find that to be an asset rather than a detriment. They have withstood daily use with very little visible wear. Matter of fact, I am ordering 2 more sets before the style gets discontinued.

I was looking for flatware with smooth handles. I'm disabled, and handles with edges hurt my hands when I grip them tightly. This set is truly my Shangi-La of tableware! Not only are the cylindrical handles round, smooth and really comfortable, the weight helps me control the silverware better than any I've tried, including specialty types. An added pleasure is the smoothness of the bowls and tines. The spoon feels so delightful sliding out of my mouth; it's an unexpected sensual experience. I have had no trouble with them in the dishwasher, and the sleek lines make them really easy to hand-wash, too, as there are no crevices to trap food. I've always bought silverware with an eye to distinctive design. I never knew what I was missing in the way I could wield them; and the design is as pleasing to my eye as to my hand and mouth. I'm giving away all my others, and getting an additional set of the Shangri-La.

I am not a gourmet cook. I have no need for anything real fancy but I wanted a good Knife set. This one is perfect for the average user. It contains all the necessary knives needed for everyday cooking. The mincer thing is slightly lame. Everything sticks to it and you have to keep wiping the food down to get it minced. My press'n'chop works better for that purpose. Aside from that one tool the rest of the set is great. They are all nice and sharp and the wood black is nice looking. Another good quality is that the blades run through the handle. This is very important, as I've had a large knife break free from it's handle before and I almost cut myself.

This is an attractive, good quality opening price point cutlery set. They should not be washed in a dishwasher and should be hand dried, just like all cutlery! They are a stamped set with a "fake" bolster, and as a stamped set they are light weight. You would have to be doing something very wrong to have one of these "snap like twigs" as another reviewer has suggested. Yes, they would rust if not hand dried. Overall this is a good cutlery set and a very good value. A solid 4 star set.

I am living in my first apartment and my Dad bought me this set along with some other essentials. I am having a great time using it when I cook for friends and I have not had any problems with rust. The block looks great on my counter and the handles are soft and easy to grip. I am going to buy this set for my sister when she moves to a new house next year.

I have had this set for about 3 months and I really like it. The quality is great for the price and my set has not rusted or bent. I try to wash these knives by hand because even my high end French stainless steel knives will rust in the dishwasher. I think it has something to do with the abrasive nature of the soap. Anyway, I've had no problems with these. The handles are comfortable, the block is stylish and the set has everything I need.
