Looking for a propane grill?.... LOOK AGAINBecause there were no reviews available on this particular item which is natural gas and because I had never owned a gas grill before, I inadvertantly ordered the wrong product. It proved to be a costly mistake.
As advertised, this grill is quite easy to assemble. It took my wife and I all of a half hour to put it together. The unit is very sturdy and extremely attractive. It was after we had finished assembling it that I discovered my error. There was no way I could ever return it so I called a local plumbing and heating contractor and asked about getting an outdoor connector installed for this grill. Since we already had natural gas I presumed this would be a relatively inexpensive proposition. Boy was I wrong. The cost would have been $700-800 and local building codes prohibited the use of the grill on our deck. The contractor did mention that a conversion kit might be available. His estimate and that piece of advice cost us $45.00.
That is when I contacted Weber. They are a first class company.
I explained my dilemma to the Customer Service Rep. I was told that a conversion kit was available for about $60 and that for a small shipping fee I could have it within just a few days. True to their word the kit arrived when they said it would. I got a bit panicky thinking I was going to have major problems getting this done. So once again, I called Customer Service and they spent more than half an hour with me while I made the switch advising me of every step along the way. Finally, we were ready to cook. The results were fabulous. Since it is only my wife and myself this small unit is fine. But if you have children or do a lot of entertaining, you probably should take the advice of some other reviewers and spring for the three burner unit. In most cases the price of the natural gas and propane models are the same. TAKE CARE TO ORDER THE RIGHT ONE AND THANK YOU WEBER FOR ALL OF YOUR HELP!!

Good Grill, Good ValueI don't miss the side burner, but that is your choice. This is the right model for me. The current price is that same price I paid four years ago. If you have natural gas service, get this not the propane model.

Set up info for this great produceSo now, in order that everyone else will be prepared and have the information needed on this grill, IT TAKES A 3/8 INCH PIPE FITTING which hooks directly to the quick disconnect hose. For those not experienced in pipe fittings, this is a regular pipe fitting, and not a flared or compression fitting.
Wish I had known this when my arrived, but hopefully this will save everyone else a trip to Home Depot on the day the grill arrives.
Continued good grilling on this great product from Weber.
Weber & Amazon: class acts
outstanding grillMy friends call me a serious cook/foodie.
I was not about to be sucked into the name-hype of weber.
However after 2 months of using this grill, I'm sold.
The grill is very solid. Stainless makes cleaning easy
and the grill keeps it shine.
The no-flare system allows very flexible cooking methods.
You can bake indirect by placing food over off-burners or
using the hanging basket. Grilled food turns out perfect,
not dried out or burnt. Baked items like potatoes/corn/
squash turn out great. Even greasy lamb doesn't flare and
burn. I've had very consistent results for meals like
ribs for 35 people, a rib roast, and the normal BBQ fare.
The side burner is relatively underpowered, but is fine
for saute or boiling water. (similar to camping stove).
The main BBQ burners heat FAST. 5 minutes for 600+ degrees.
The drip pan, and "funnel" where everything drips down
slides out, and the carbonized stuff brushes right out
like flakes. excellent design.
Assembly was cake and quick. Box was very well packed.
The only possible gripe is that the area where the control
dials are could have been used for "counter space" instead.
get this grill from amazon, you won't regret it.

The six burners may seem like overkill (visitors always comment with a snicker about how huge it is), but believe me -- it's extremely easy to use that much cooking space, even for a small family. Imagine being able to grill 3 different types of vegetables while simultaneously searing burgers or chops or fish, all at different temperatures. Imagine having enough room to roast/smoke a 25 lb. turkey entirely with indirect heat (one burner going on either side of the bird with no direct heat underneath).
By the way, Cook's Illustrated Magazine has rated grills a couple of times. They generally conclude that the high-end, $1000+ stainless steel grills are not worth the money -- except for the Weber Summit. The only fault they find with it is that it's only marginally better than the high-end Weber Platinum models that cost hundreds less.
No question that if money's no object, this grill is the best. Don't forget to budget for Weber's custom grill cover.
