Concerned Consumer
I bought this heater last year to use in my living room, the term "safe heat" is an oxymoron. It started having problems turning on within a month of purchase and then burnt a hole in the rug - luckily I smelled it burning immediately. There was a large burn mark on the bottom of the heater and a burn on the rug. I suggest picking something that is really safe.

Good buy.
Pros: Good price, fast heating with excellent termostat, rotates, very quiet, timer, VERY safe.
Cons: display is not backlit and is hard to read. This is troublesome enough that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5.

DeLonghi DFH469M SafeHeat Fan Heater
This is without a doubt the best fan heater I have ever used! I live in the mountains of Colorado and we had an incredibly brutal winter but this fan kept my bathroom (the only room I bother using a heater in) so nice and warm. After 5 minutes I could turn it off and the room would still be comfortably warm. And it oscillates! Great heater. I highly recommend it.

Quite soothing non-dry heat for all night long
Before you read any more, please understand the "principle of operation" for the radiators. As name says, it is a "heat radiator" and not heat "circulator". With any radiator you will have to provide some kind of air flow in the room using ceiling fan, etc. If you don't have ceiling fan in the room then also you can use radiator effectively if you put the radiator near a coldest window in the room. (This technically results in natural air flow because of the temprature gradient.)

Now something about the actual product. I have been using it for over a month now.
* No smell as opposed to lot of people complaining.
* It has two timers for setting two different "ON" times. However, both times share the "ON" interval. The ON interval can be sellected either 30min, 1hr, 2hr, 4hr, or 8hr. The example: If you program timer A for 9:00 pm, time B to 2:00 AM and ON interval to 4hrs this is how it will work: Radiator will turn ON at 9:00 PM and stay ON for 4 hours turing itself OFF at 1:00 AM. Again it will turn ON at 2:00 AM and stay ON for another 4 hours turning itself OFF at 6:00 AM. The point is you can NOT program timer A and timer B for different ON intervals.
* It takes about half an hour before you can feel the heat. This is because it is oil-filled, this also results in more efficient heating.
* User manual is very brief.

Oh by the way, I bought another one after 1 month for the second bedroom.

Great Heater
In contrast to other reviewers, this is an excellent heater. It is a radiative heater, if you want heat blown at you or directed, by a heater with a fan. This heater works best when something is above it like a shelf (an appropriate distance away) to project the heat out into the room, like the radiator covers seen in older houses.

Otherwise provide another type of airflow, such as a ceiling fan.

As a note:
* No smell as many reviewers have mentioned, except for the first week.
* The timer works great.
* It takes about fifteen minutes to a half an hour before you can feel the heat because it is oil-filled and slowly spreads the heat.
* Oil heating is more efficient heating and easier on the pocket book with the monthly energy bills.

* Thermastat works well in regulating the amount of heat provided and lessens the amount of energy used.

* User manual is very brief.

Warm and Toasty!
This space heater was worth every penny! It keeps me warm and toasty, is absolutely silent, and doesn't look bad either. I have been using the heater safely in a small bedroom which has now become a preferred location in my chilly apartment. I have yet to experience an odor from the oil, and the digital preset temperature function is a plus. I was apprehensive to buy this product but I am certainly glad that I did.

Low heat and noisy timer
We had a Delonghi like this and wanted another one. this one came up in the gold box so i got it. The first problem is it doesn't put out the heat as fast as our old one. I think this is due to extra metal casing they have on this model so you cant touch the radiator tank/fins, but it does slow the heating effect of the unit...

Bummer, was hoping it would work as well as our first. Guess its best to go for the simpler things when you dont really need the bells and whistles.

Poor performer
I had good luck with several other Delonghi heaters.
The room I was trying to heat had a smaller Delonghi heater which worked OK, but I wanted to be able to warm the room faster and to a higher temperature.
I though this heater would do the job: it was bigger and had more heating elemnts. I was wrong. This heater does a poor job and a worst job than my smaller heater. All the heat rises from the top of the unit straight up to the ceiling and does little to warm the entire room.

Great Heater, but know what you are buying
I tried many heaters and this was the best I could find for consistent regular usage.
This heater puts out a cozy "feel good" type of heat. I purchased mine for a large bathroom full of cold tile and marble, and it warms the whole room superbly! I set the timer to turn it on about an hour before I get up in the morning, and turn off about 15 minutes before I leave. Warm bathroom everyday! Love it! When I accidentally leave the bathroom door open, it heats my bedroom too.
At first, I noticed the smell mentioned by others, but it quickly went away on mine and have not noticed it since.
Make sure you understand this heater will not provide *instant* heat as it takes 15 - 30 minutes to completely warm up. But then it heats extremely well.
My only complaint is more of wish...I wish it had a digital thermostat and timer instead of two settings and a mechanical timer just because it would make it even easier to use.

Geez, you guys
Whatever happened to education in elementary physics in this country??? When an air conditioner operates, where ELSE does it dump heat than outside the area being cooled??? Anyone conversant with even the simplest concepts of physics should recognize the hogwash of Amazon's editorial blurb for what it is --- HOGWASH.

More Heat, Less Cool
I bought one of these a few years ago and couldn't wait to return it. When you have an AC unit in a room, it generates heat -- there's a reason that a window unit hangs *outside* the room. There is heat dissipation along the exhaust hose also, and at the window: if your window has 2 sections, the heat can rise just outside the lower section, and re-enter at the window dividers. At least, understand that a 10000 BTU unit in the room does not equal the same outside the room, because the room is not insulated from the machine. I had this unit in a small bedroom -- maybe it was windy in there, but it really wasn't any cooler. The unit did act as a dehumidifier, and required a fair amount of emptying. Anyways, don't, don't buy this thing -- it does nothing, and it's expensive.

So-so
Cool well and efficiently; I've used one for three years and never had any of the scary problems other reviewers have reported. BUT, it it is loud, big, and refilling the water container is a pain (though you can operate (less well) without it.) I would recommend a window mounted device instead, unless you need one of two things: portability (no complicated window installation necessary,) or use in a room that only has windows that open outwards (the type you can't install a window AC in.)

noisy, clunky, too expensive
This cooler would be OK if it were about half the listed price (if not less), but for the price they ask for you would expect a lot more. The fan is first of all not very powerful, even on high. The plastic is very fragile/brittle feeling, one topple over by the kids and it's sure to crack. It also also extremely noisy, and that accomapanied with loud gurgling sounds from the water pump basically make this thing unusuable if you are planning on having it in the bedroom while you sleep. It might work in a larger family room where you don't care about the noise, but even then it is almost just as effective as setting a bucket of ice water in front of a regular fan.
