Great Vacuum!
Excellent! We have 3 cats in our household so I clean several times a week. I filled the canister with cat "fuzz" just from the family room. I never realized just how poorly my old vacuum cleaned, or else this one cleans better than imaginable. The bagless feature is great, not only is it easy to remove and dump but I like the dial that cleans the hepa filter. You just turn the dial and dump the dust that is brushed off the filter, and there was a lot of dust! I never had a bagless vacuum before, but when I dumped the canister, I saw that I had vacuumed up some change and the back of an earing. If I had used a bagged model they would have been thrown away.
The hand held tools are so easy to use. Just put the hoover in the upright position and the suction goes to the hose. Everything is so easy and straight forward even my husband could use it without ever looking at the manual first. I don't think I will ever enjoy vacuuming, but now I don't consider it a chore.

a bad experienceThis cleaner has some very good reviews. HOWEVER, after two uses (in my home) mine went to the local Hoover store for repair. (the brushes were loosing a lot of their bristles) They replaced the brushes under warranty and I was told by the stores repair man (Oh yeah, they had to redesign the brushes, the original design did that). The repair took about three weeks (they had to order the replacement brushes and the warehouse was out of stock) Three calls to Hoover national customer assistance without the courtesy of even a reply. Several e-mails to Hoover headquarters customer support e-mail address with no reply. I got the cleaner back and was given a free replacement filter cartridge for my trouble. Two more uses and the gear box for the brushes burned out with a lot of evil smelling smoke from the melted plastic case. Back to the Hoover store. Another warranty repair. Now I have it back and will see what happens next. NEVER AGAIN WOULD I BUY A HOOVER. They seem not to care at all about customers or customer service. If this was a typical sample of their product quality they need some heavy duty help.
Great product & value!
Thrilled, but Appalled! My previous vacuum was old and even when it was new, I was never really impressed with it. It was time to replace it.
RESEARCH - I did plenty of research - Consumer Reports, other online rating sources and of course, reviews written by customers here on Amazon. This model was the best of the bagless, which is what I wanted. There were 2 Windtunnels rated slightly better which used bags. Anyway, this is the one that looked best for me.
SUCTION - When I brought it home, it hadn't been long since I'd last vacuumed. I looked at the carpet and thought it didn't look bad, but I still wanted to try it out. I vacummed one room and then took a look at the cannister. Oh, my gosh! This vacuum really sucked (in a good way). Where did all that stuff come from? It must have pulled dirt from the floor below. Surely all that dirt and dust and hair and fluff wasn't in that one room! I refused to vacuum any more until my husband came home. He had to see this. We have several cats and one inside dog, but I still wasn't expecting to see so much dirt!
DUST IN THE AIR - I wanted a bag with a Hepa filter since I'm allergic to dust. After vacuuming a room with the U5720-900, the air is great. I can breathe just fine - no sniffles at all, unlike with my previous vacuum. However, emptying the cannister indoors (on any bagless vacuum) might not be a good idea. I take the cannister to a garbage can in our garage to empty it. so dust is not re-introduced to the indoor air. Then, since our house is apparently so filthy, I also take the Hepa out of the cannister (which is fast & simple)and shake out the extra dust. The instructions say you really don't need to do this each time, but, with all the dust in there, I think it's a good idea.
ATTACHMENTS - Consumer Reports only gave the attachments on this vacuum a GOOD, but I find them wonderful and simple. I love how they are arranged (easily accessible) and I love that the hose stays ready to use for quick pick ups. The only thing to do is choose which head you need or sometimes add an extension. The suction is good.
EFFORT - It's easy to push - it practically pulls itself along.
Bottom Line - I love it!

- Full-power upright with fold-down handle for easy storage
- Convenient bagless dirt collection
- Allergen filtration traps 99.98 percent of ragweed and pollen
- Includes onboard hose, extension wand, crevice tool, dusting brush, and upholstery nozzle
- 12 by 13 by 43-1/4 inches; 24-1/2 inches high with handle folded

Average Vacuum - Better choices out there!Mine constantly clogged with pet hair and human hair (up until 7 months ago I had very long hair), and it would lose suction easily. I found myself having to clean out the roller ALL the time, and it became more work to clean out the vacuum all the time than it was to vacuum the house!
I invested in a Dyson vacuum, and I haven't looked back since. While the price is much higher, the Dyson is MUCH better for pet owners! This hoover would be decent maybe for a petless person living in an apartment, or someone with no kids. Anyone who has to use their vacuum a LOT will probably not be happy, but if you're looking for a fairly inexpensive bagless vacuum, this is a decent choice.
Small, Compact & Doesn't wake the babies! The first thing that I noticed was that it almost propelled itself across my carpet. Then I was amazed how much quieter it is than my previous vacuums. The kids weren't scared of the loud noise and my baby slept through it.
The fold down handle is SO convenient. I don't have a lot of storage room and in the past it was a pain to have to take my vacuum into the basement to store. It fits perfectly in my bedroom closet and I don't even notice it. As for the previous reviews that I read before purchasing it that stated it was a pain to clean the vacuum after you vacuum, that isn't true at all. The easy handle on the canister makes it a breeze to just take outside and dump into my trash can. I never have had to "vacuum off the vacuum when done" as some of the other reviews have stated. However, I did plug it up but that was my own fault for trying to make it suck up dry expanded foam insulation that was a foot high and I just wanted to see if it could do it. It did it but I caught a piece that was way too big and it lodged inside the hose. Compared to the hours that I have spent trying to unplug a clog in a dirt devil bagless, this was no big deal at all!!! The hose is somewhat transparent and I could spot right away where the clog was. I just squeezed the hose to break the large piece of insulation and it cleared right up. I have not needed to empty it everytime I vacuum like another review stated and I even have kids that drag cereal and such all over the carpet. My kids recently decided to pour out 2 boxes of Kix cereal on the floor while I was potty training another and boy, was I thankful for this vacuum. It is so easy to use that my 4 year old loves to vacuum his room although it is still a little big for him.
Overall, I am absolutely delighted and in love with this vacuum!! It fits right in with a busy house of children and is perfect for a home with limited storage space. It is so much quieter than the larger vacuums and has so much more power.

Hoover Bagless? We call it the Hoover Worthless! Each time we started the Hoover, we first had to position the suction hose near the dirt cannister to catch the dust that flew out whenever the unit was first turned on. With 2 cats, we too were lured by advertising hoopla into the idea that this unit could handle the cat hair. Sure it can, but it means replacing an expensive ($30) filter about 6 to 8 times a year. You do the math - in a couple of years the cost of filters exceeds the cost of the Hoover!
Cleaning the "bagless cannister" is very messy, make sure you do it outside and on a calm day! We'll take a "bag type" anyday!
We've noticed that in all the Hoover bagless advetising we've seen on tv, The person using the bagless Hoover is picking up what looks like confetti. That's right, little pieces of paper. Not dirt, pet hair. etc. Any vac can pick up pieces of paper!
Great picker upper but.........fragile

Another disappointing vacuum for the bucksLike so many others here on Amazon, my main problem is with the errant dust and dirt flying when you empty the dirt canister--it sends me into sneezing fits. The canister is removed easily enough, but it's very obvious that the filter is not thoroughly cleaned, and it's also a messy process. I'm keeping it (inertia is a powerful force), but I wouldn't recommend this vacuum. Keep looking!
Makes vacuuming easy!!!
It makes this husband want to vacuumI told my wife that we could either by a[less expensive] vacuum cleaner every other year -- which requires continual purchases of vacuum bags -- or we can spend a little more for a good bagless vacuum cleaner that will last five or more years.
We bought the WindTunnel V2 (U8130-900) and we do not reget spending one penny of the price. We immediately saw the difference in the cleaning power of the wind tunnel. They are a little heavier then other upright cleaners, but its performance more than makes up for the extra weight. Since most of the uprights are 12 Amps, I know the the amount of Amps does not disclose the amount of suction power a cleaner has. Hoover has a numbering system that gives you a rating of the suction power. The higher the number the greater the suction. This allows you to compare the cleaning power of all of its models. The highest I've seen so far is a rating of 31. The V2 has a rating of 29.0 -- plenty of power. It also is beltless, no more burning smell because your belt is not properly turning; or having to go search for a store that sells the right belt for your particular brand and model. As mentioned in most review of this model, its canistor is large enough to hold plenty of dirt and allows you to dispose of the dirt from one side without removing the HEPA filter which is housed in the opposite side of the dirt container. The handle is well designed with its power button within reach of your fingertip. It also has an oval opening at the top of the handle that allows it to be lifted. The handle reclines parallel to the floor which makes cleaning uder furinture a little easier. It also has a switch to turn of the beater brushes while cleaning the floor. Although my vacuum cleaner is fairly new, 5 Sept 02, and has not been battle test by time, I do know the various filter prevent any dust or odors from being released. This makes for cleaner air, which is good for any alergy victims or thoughs who have babies and small children about the house.
The only things I wish Hoover would have added are the power hand brush, an extra hose and a retractable power cord. The handbrush can be purchased as an accessory and comes with the higher WindTunnel V2 model which cost [a bit more]. The higher V2 model is essentially the same vacuum cleaner except that it comes with the powered brush and can be used with or without a bag; I assume the bag would provide added filtration. The power brush also comes with a lower model that is not a V2 and has a suction rating of 27. The extra hose would be handy for dusting high spaces, cleaning stairs, or getting around the interior of your vehicle. Since I have to nit-pick to find a few cons, it says a lot about this vacuum cleaner.
In conclusion, I recommend this vacuum cleaner to those who could afford to put up the money for it. If the WindTunel's quality is as good and long lasting as many people have told me, in the long run it should save you money -- no bags, no belts, and no [lower priced] vacuum cleaners ever few years. it's enough to make a husband want to vacuum; it has in this family.

Terrible!I have cleaned and had to entirely replace one of the three filters since then as they are constantly getting clogged. I have to take this outside to empty it because it is so dusty and dirty, I would not want this in my house. I thought the idea behind bagless was that it was easier and cleaner to empty the container than to take out a bag and throw it away. As it is, I am in the driveway with a trashbag over the container every time I clean to empty it and struggling to put the fliters back in "just right" or the top won't stay on.
As was stated in the other review, it will blow dust all over your house.
I am VERY disappointed in this product and am ready to put this where it belongs---on the curb for the trashmen to pick up!
