Love it!
I purchased a factory reconditioned Little Green Proheat a while back--the addition of 3 dachshunds to our home had definitely left an impression on our carpets and furniture. I took the time to clean every inch of our solid green upholstered sofa and chair, and WOW what a difference! They looked new again-- and cleaning up the spots that seem to occur on a pretty regular basis is a simple thing.

I love this machine!!

Great! but not AMAZING! More like 4.5 stars
I've been amazed by products in the past, like the Eureka 4870DT that I just bought along with this unit (also see my review of that). I'm definitely amazed at that vacuum cleaner, but I'm not AMAZED at this. Don't get me wrong, this thing works--I just cleaned my car seat and floor mats with this thing and my car smells like new. I liked being able to see all the dirt and grime being sucked up. I also cleaned my kitchen chairs and it did a great job getting out old stains (probably also due to the hot water I used and the onboard heater feature). The power brush does the job, but I wish it would SUCTION while the brush is ROTATING, like the Rug Doctor you rent. Instead, you have to brush, then flip the switch to "SUCTION" to suck up the liquid. The spray feature is weak... it just squirts like a water gun; not SPRAY. That means, you're spraying quite a bit of liquid into one concentrated area. The seat or furniture will soak it up. That's one drawback with this unit--it leaves stuff pretty wet. You'll have to let things dry for a few hours after cleaning with this thing, if not overnight. Also, the plastic for the water and waster canisters feel very cheap... my unit actually had a thin hairline crack in it. The hose also feels a bit cheap and I wish it was a tad longer. Otherwise, I'm surprised how much you can clean with one canister full of solution. I only used about 1/3 of the liquid to clean 1 car seat, 2 floor mats, and 2 kitchen chairs. It's definitely worth the $50 I paid for this refurbished unit.

Bissel Little Green works fine
I bought the reconditioned Little Green unit, and have had no problem. It is very good for small areas- I use it for small areas in a room, and for carpeted steps. It takes some work in that you have to get down and manually spray then vaccuum, but this is what makes it very small and portable. The cord length could be longer, but an extension cord is easy to get. I have two small dogs, and it really got up a lot of dirt and accidents from the year that I've had them. The carpets look much cleaner and fluffed now. It won't work miracles, but it did get out a lot of spots and dirt I thought was permanent. What it does not do well is to clean large and very dirty areas. But I would hope no one buys this to deep clean large areas! You should have professional cleaning or get a large unit for that.

Overall, works well for what it is- a small area carpet cleaner where size, portability, and ease of storage are most important.

good little spot cleaner
This little one is a good spot cleaner. I have had mine for about 3 or 4 years and it's still doing it's job. It does a great job on pet accidents. It lost a star because it's spray isn't always even. I also wish it would have come with a second small brush attachment. I know you can order one, but I have never gotten around to it.

could have used more info before I bought
The machine is very light, easy to set up and use, but the waxing, buffing and polishing that I wanted to do on my kitchen floors can ONLY BE DONE ON WOOD FLOORS, which I don't have. The instructions say it CANNOT be used on 'no wax floors"!(I tried it-took the shine off) The ads state you can wax and polish 'hard floors', which I took to mean non carpeted areas, so I probably would not have purchased it if I had known. There is no water extractor, so it's not good for large carpet areas. It will stay wet a LONG time. For just floor scrubbing, it's great! Light, easy, etc as above. Couldn't ask for an easier, lighter machine -- if only I could use it for more tasks!!!

great rug shampooer
This machine is great. A child can use it. It was very easy to put together. Less then 5 minutes. I have 3 cats, a dog and 3 teenage girls that have friends over all the time. They all spill on my carpets and forget to clean up. My carpets had so many stains. I used this machine with the stiffest brushes and man did it get the stains out. I was amazed. I had a hoover once before and it did a great job. I was concerned this time because the unit was smaller. But it did the job just as well. I am very happy with this unit and would advise anyone to use it.

Lasted Many Years
My mother bought one of these way back in the 70s! It performed flawlessly for over 20 years and let me tell you, it's been through some pretty rough times. It's been knocked down a flight of stairs, accidently stepped on and tripped over, banged into walls and radiators, flipped over a banister and fell about 15 feet to the floor, and the worst time, my mother literally strangled my sister after she borrowed it for her apartment. It was 1984 and she had just moved into the apartment. She said she needed it to shampoo the carpets real bad cause' they were filthy. But apparently after she shampooed them she decided she didn't like the color of the carpets. So she filled up the tank with navy blue dye and turned it on. She was successful at dying all of the carpets navy blue but the entire base/bottom, scrub brushes, and the tank were permanently stained blue. My mother pulled up in the driveway one day to find the thing sitting on the porch. After seeing the condition it was in she had a nervos breakdown and brought it inside. She immediatly called my sister and caused one of the worst fights between them ever. Saying that she must "have a screw loose", she's "off her rocker", etc. etc. My sister didn't talk to her for weeks and in the meantime my mother was nagging constantly and telling the whole town about what her daughter had done to her Hoover Carpet Shampooer Machine. The day that it happened, my Aunt was visiting and they tried to clean it and removed massive amounts of dirt clumps and cat hair from the scrubber area. For weeks I never heard the end of her nagging and swearing over the whole ordeal. But it still worked perfectly for many years to come! The blue stains faded over time and my mother and sister are close again. But my mother hesitates whenever she asks to borrow anything! Sadly, the mighty maching performed it's last shampoo job the other day straining to finish the job so it could finally rest in peace after it's long, hard knock life. It was a good carpet machine and will be greatly missed.

Full steam ahead!
I was shopping for a carpet steam cleaner for two main reasons: 1 - my kids were making messes all over the rugs in the house, and 2 - I always seem to be cleaning up the carpets in my cars fairly often. I needed something that was portable enough to let me room the house in search for stains and I also needed something that didn't require a hot-water hookup so I could use it in the garage. This little unit fits the bill perfectly. My wife & I are totally amazed at how well it removes stains (we were able to shampoo out a 4 month old orange juice stain on the carpet that endless hand-scrubbing couln't budge). Some people might be skeptical about not having a hot-water hook up, but I just get the hottest tap water I can find and then go right to work. This little machine did wonders in the cars removing grease and oil stains from the floor mats! I love this machine!

Good little machine
I bought this machine two years ago. One of the locking clips just broke and I've ordered another Steamvac Jr. as replacement. I want to share with everyone our experience with this machine.

We've used it on cat vomit (we've got two cats and the long-haired one always stays indoors), dog accidents, all sorts of stains from children and grownups alike. We use it exclusively on carpeted areas of the house. It does clean and does a better job, in my mind, than the spot-cleaners that come in pressurized cans, because this machine leaves little residue and requires less scrubbing than SpotShot.

It does not come with a heating element, which means that one must put in hot hot tap water. Often, there is hot-water left over. One has to either dump the left-over detergent solution, or use it next time cold or luke warm. We've done both. And it does not seem to have made a major different in its effectiveness, though I feel that with hot water the cleaned spot dries up faster. I do have to regularly use bleach to clean up the interior of the machine (the hose, the filter, as well as the dirty water container), esp. in the summer time. I also ordered spare filters, as the filter gets yellow quickly (we do clean quite a bit of cat vomit). Overall, we are glad we have it.

Recently, one of the locking clips broke. Without the locking clip, one cannot pick up the unit by its handle, so we have to carried the whole unit from the base all over the house in order to use it. It seems we can't live without it. I researched the web and various stores looking for an alternative model, thinking that with so much cleaning to do, we might be better off with a more powerful model, perhaps one that uses steam rather than hot water to clean.

However, there is nothing on the market that is as light-weight and portable as this one, not to mention there are few models that are remotely in the same price range--other than a hard-floor cleaner. The Steamvac Jr. cleans carpet!

Given the fact that we exclusively use it for spot cleaning, not for house-wide steam-cleaning, we decided to get another Steamvac Jr. We figured that its price is well-worth two years' of constant heavy use.

We hope your Steamvac serves you well.

Even better than I expected!
Two days after we had brand new carpet installed, my husband spilled paint on the carpet. He tried to clean it up after 4 hours, but it left a crunchy mess. About 5 days later, I received the Steamvac and thought I'd try to get that stain out, that by this point was also trapping dirt. I was amazed that the Steamvac completely removed the stain! I did have to scrub the spot with the bristles on the suction head as the manual suggests doing, but I didn't have to put much muscle into it. I also used VERY hot water, which I'm sure helped.

In addition to doing a great job cleaning, there are additional pro's:

- The unit is very easy to get ready to use (just add hot water and the detergent that comes with the machine into one opening).
-The unit is very light and portable.
-The unit seems to be constructed well.
-The machine does a great job of sucking up the water from the carpet, leaving it almost dry.

My only complaint about the product is that cleaning the machine after using it takes several steps, but I'm sure it will go more quickly the next time.

I would highly recommend the Steamvac.

I also had my handle broke off!
I also had my handle broken off, like other reviews have stated. I had used it for two weeks and loved it! One day as I was sweeping it broke. I have tried for 8 months to get it fixed and trying to get anyone to help is impossible. I finally found out I would probably never get it fixed. So now it's in the trash. I loved using it but I will not waste my money again.

Forget the negative reviews if you have hardwood floors...this thing works great! My entire house is hardwood floors and I've tried several upright vacuums, and they ALL shoot stuff out of the back. The Shark never shoots anything out...and 99.9% of the time it picks everything up: from rice, coffee, dust-bunnies, crumbs, coins, potato chips...anything that other expensive vacuums I've tried can't. It's convenient to use, lightweight, it stays charged (which btw, when calibrating the battery, they suggest you charge/drain the battery twice. I've drained it once so far, and it ran for over 45 minutes). The swivel handle is great, and maneuvers like a steering wheel.

I even use this thing on the back porch to pick up leaves, berries, and stuff I don't feel like getting out the broom & dustpan for.

I don't think this machine is designed for heavy duty work, or not sure how it would perform on deep-pile carpet, but for my hardwood situation it's perfect!

Also, the little wheel for baseboards really works! It throws stuff right in front of the beeterbar to be consumed.

It's a sweeper not a vacuum!!!!!!
I like this product, I was very sceptacle at first with the classic Info-mertial, but this sweeper can do its job everytime. After living in Europe for a while, one of the biggest selling household items were "electric" brooms, or Sweepers. So I can appretiate a sweeper like this, actually just like the info-mertioal. PLEASE DO NOT buy this to replace your carpet vacuum or you will end up just like the other people here with neg. feedback. If you have tile or hardwood floors this is definately for you, I'm sure It's even great for short "office type" carpet.

Not just for girlies
Very smart tool for cleaning just about anything. I cleaned my oven burners, floor tile, and have so much confidence in it that I will be cleaning my pool tile with it this weekend.

Floor Tile: I used the narrow brush tool to clean the .5" grout lines that I have in my kitchen and It looks like it removed a thin layer to make the them appear brand new. I went fairly slow and agitated with the brush while applying direct steam. I noticed a thin dust layer on the edges of the tile after I performed this which may be a the top layer of grout or the packed in dust - The grout looks fantastic, but I may need to limit how often I use this technique considering I may be taking off layers or the seal - but I'm very impressed with how effective this technique can be.

Cleaning the tile is a joy as well - This unit comes with two cloths that hook on to the floor tool that basically act as a catcher for dirt and dust. I would still recommend sweeping floors with heavy dust or debris first as you would if you were going to use a mop - the cloth picks up objects that stick to it - but anything too big will be pushed around. These cloths are very durable and I have washed one several times and it seems as good as new.

I have not used the tool as a steamer for clothing yet, but I am pretty confident it will work to get all the wrinkles out.

The times between refills seem to be a little over a half an hour. The process of re-filling the tank can be a little tedious considering you have to wait for the unit to cool down before opening the tank - I would compare the annoyance factor to waiting for a slice of pizza to cool down before chowing it - not a big deal.

The 370 is fun to use, has tools to do about anything, and will kick the crud out of any stubborn stains or dirt that have been plaguing you. If this thing doesn't beat it it probably needed to be replaced and not cleaned in the first place.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars - I would have given it 5 if it had come with a remote control and I could clean things from my couch.

Works well, not great owners manual.
This device looks well made comes with a bunch of mostly useful accessories and is very reasonably priced. To suggest that it doesn't work at all and is in essence a decorative Italian sculpture is simply incorrect.

The two keys to success with this steamer are first to let it fully warmup, the amber light may glow indicating that it's ready but often it needs a few more minutes before use. Secondly you must flush the water out of the system and make sure that only pure steam comes out. This is easy to do and see, with no attachments connected, simply depress the steam button hold the nozzle over a sink until only steam comes out.

I am able to get almost one half hour of use before refill enough time in my small home to mop the kitchen and bathroom floors, clean the toilet and bathroom sink. All tasks are done well with the satsifying and actually fun steaming process.

Work through the so-so manual, practice all the attachment hook-ups before you turn it on and you will have a super-clean home as a result.

Absolutely Wonderful!
This little thing is one of the best cleaning tools I've ever owned. It is easy to use (if you read the owner's manual first) and a gem--especially if you have someone in the house who is sensitive to chemicals as I do. But I can't stress enough that the Enviro-steamer cleans *better* than those chemicals ever did and leaves no odor behind, just clean floors (and bathrooms, and stovetops, and windows...). I have hardwood and tile floors throughout the place, and I've never found it so easy to clean them. It's also great for steaming the wrinkles out of just about anything.

One reviewer mentioned their thumb getting tired, but there's a switch lock that can be used to lock the steamer on as well as off (so you don't need to keep presssing the button down).

Just, as the other reviewers have said, let it heat up adequately (the amber light is only a thermostat from what I can tell), and let all the water out of the hose before attempting to steam anything. You'll find that when it's full of water you get less steam than when it's only half full of water (the water and the steam stay in the same reservoir), so I almost never fill mine completely--I've yet to find a cleaning job that required the full two cups of water-as-steam to complete.
