Great Cleaner for the Price
I purchased the Dirt Devil CE7900 last week here at Amazon. I am very happy with the job this unit does. For what I would have spent to rent equipment or have a service come in once, I own a machine that does just as good a job. It is very easy to assemble and simple to use. I will admit the unit is fairly heavy so be ready for a workout if you plan on doing an entire house. I have read other reviews complaining about the dirty water that drips out of the front when emptying the dirty water reservoir. I Just carry a little towel or rag to place under the front while I dump the dirty water. I had a one or two stubborn spots/stains that I ended up treating with a different product but the dirt devil worked wonders on heavy traffic soiled areas and the spots where the dog lays. I have not owned other carpet cleaners but I can say this one is a great bargain at [this price].

I was ready to be impressed, and I wasn't disappointed
I ordered this Dirt Devil full-sized carpet shampooer because I was so impressed with the little hand-held Spot Scrubber by Dirt Devil. I figured if the full sized shampooer did as good a job as the little hand-held, I'd be pretty pleased. I was also pleased with the price for which it was being offered here on Amazon.com. The free shipping offer clinched the deal.

It arrived yesterday and I immediately set out to use it. I was pleased to see that it was substantially assembled -- I only had to put in four screws to attach the handle to the body of the shampooer. The assembly and operating instructions were easy to read and follow. I was shampooing my carpet within 20 minutes after UPS delivered the package.

I was amazed with the results I got. When I emptied the dirty water tank into the sink, I couldn't believe how much crud had been extracted from the carpet! I wrestled it upstairs (it's heavy) to clean my bedroom and upstairs hallway carpet, and again, I was duly impressed. This did a better job than professional carpet cleaners and for the very reasonable price of [money], just a little more than what I paid last year for professional cleaning. My carpets really look rejuvenated. Before considering the Platinum Force, I was looking at carpet cleaners that were about [price]. I was pleased to learn that I could get excellent results for half the money.

Terrific bang for the buck
My wife and I have 11 cats, and it's spring. They've all been neutered, but we're still having a bit of mating-time competitive marking. I was using a little spot cleaner for awhile, but my little friends soon got ahead of that. I filled the soap dispenser of the Platinum Force with PetZyme and went to work. It not only does a bang-up job of extracting dirt out of the carpet (even replacing cleaning solution with PetZyme), it extracts so much of the dirty water out that the carpet (burber) was almost dry when I was done. It was quite dry in four hours.

Better to buy a handheld
I bought this about 9 months ago for the purpose of cleaning up after my cats and occasionally doing my whole house. It works well for spot cleaning with the attachments. It does not work well for large areas.

I find the brush on the main part does not work well in getting up deep dirt and grime so I am constantly on my hands and knees using the attachment. Also, once you start the cleaning you have to finish it all right then since this unit does not heat itself. You can't set it up and then run answer the phone or run another errand because when you get back the water has cooled and cool or cold water doesn't work in heavy cleaning. This waste the cleaner you are using which can add up if you need it a lot.

I also have trouble with the cat hair getting stuck in the tiny slit of an opening that sucks in the water and can't get anything down into the corners to get it out. This cleaner is easy to store and does tear down easy to clean and doesn't have many parts to clean but the far edges or corners I can't seem to get clean. I need to use it almost every other day since I have 3 cats and it has become a real hassle so that I am now going to go buy a handheld one that can be used with less cleaner and for small purposes. I am very dissappointed that I did not do more research on this machine before I bought it because I was trying to save a buck and thought it would be fine for what I wanted it for.

After using this for 9 months I feel that I need a heavy duty one that has a heating unit for all over and a little handheld one for those quick clean ups after a sick cat or when they bring me earthworms or other dirty creatures. If your main goal is to do a quick clean up on small spots the handhelds are half the price, easier to store and set up and uses less cleaner for the short job. If you want to clean your whole house then go get a heavy duty one with a good brush system and heating unit.

The main positive points are it is easy to store, lightweight to use and tears down easy for cleaning it. The main negative points are it doesn't work well for all over and no heating unit.

Light and easy to use
This is my first time using a carpet shampooer. It gets the job done and very easy to clean the machine. I help with saving stray cats and get them homes. I have to clean the porch and shampoo the rugs every week. I was amazed the first time. I was alittle concerned cause the machine wasnt big, heavy or bulky. I really didnt think it would get the job done. It did! If your looking to simplify cleaning carpets this is for you.

Gotta Love this Dirt Devil CE7000 Easy Steamer
I have been looking for a light weight easy to handle carpet cleaner since my back surgery fusion...This Is It!!! It glides across my Berber carpet and cleans beautifully. The water extractor allows my carpet to dry within one hour. Easy to put together, fill and empty. I recommend it highly and am purchasing one for my Mother-In-Law.

Good idea, not dependable though
I have two young kids and was thrilled to find a product that would help with the seemingly constant messes around our house...particularly in the kitchen. I especially liked the vacuum; it was pretty lightweight and easy to use. It was very effective at picking up general dirt and cat hair and was great for quick cleanups during the day. I was excited to find a product that I could fill with my own preferred cleaning solution (vinegar & water). Unfortunately, I only got to enjoy using it for a week before the sprayer gave out and I had to return it. I've had this happen within 6 months on the Swiffer Wetjet too, so I've given up on all of the spray mops for now. I decided that since I like the vacuum/dry sweeper combo so much that I'm opting for the plain Dirt Devil Sweeper Vac. I'll just use the Swiffer-type wet cloths with it.

This is so handy!!
I have two little kids and it seems like my kitchen floor ALWAYS has crumbs on it. I do a lot of sweeping and Swiffering and it's definately NOT my favorite household chore. Recently our Swiffer Wetjet broke and I was looking for a replacement and I came across this. I got lucky and found it CHEAP on an Amazon Friday sale, so it ended up being no more expensive than a Swiffer replacement would have been.

So far I'm thrilled with it!! I love not having to get out my broom and sweep the room before I mop. The vaccuum gets into all the little nooks and crannies very easily and picks up everything. No more bending over with the broom and the dustpan!

The wet sprayer also works really well. The cleaner that it comes with smells great and I especially like that because this unit is heavier than a Swiffer (due to the vaccum), you don't have to push so hard to get the stubborn spots off the floor. It comes with two bottles of cleaner, but you could refill it with any cleaner. Unlike the Swiffer, you don't have to use their bottle. Just take the lid off the bottle that comes with it and pour in anything you want.

Overall, this product seems to be pretty sturdy and useful for the price. It's small, but powerful and I'm much more likely to keep my floor cleaned now that I can do it so easily!

I took off one star due to the only drawback-the fact that it has to be recharged often. That can be kind of a pain if you're ready to use it and it hasn't been charged. It would be nice if it had a removable battery pack or something that could be plugged in seperately, but it doesn't.

All in all, I this is worth the money!

Where to find Replacement Sponges
I give this product a 4 starts. Battery Life isn't long, just put it on to charge before you put it away after each use should be fine. As for finding the replacement sponges for mopping...you can find them right here on Amazon.com if you can't find them in stores. Just type in Dirt Devil Mop Vac in the search block...should pull up the replacements, the cleaning solution and the Vac itself. Hope this is helpful to reviewers.
