Eureka MM shopping review
shopping for a compact canister vacuum cleaner. The mighty mite has most of the features my wife wants for cleaning the rooms with hardwood floors, under the beds, corners, etc. The Eureka MM will do the job. A decision will be made within the next day of two. Likes the weight and price. Amps not indicated.

Eureka Mighty Might
We purchased out mighty might when we first married ten years ago. Since then this vacuum has taken care of cobwebs, hardwood floors and everything in between. The vacuum has more than payed for itself. Despite several moves, falls and children- the vacuum still works. We are replacing it now because numerous falls have taken it's wheels and children yanking the cord from the wall have loosened the wires but it still works. Why isn't it available. A+ for the mm vacuum, they have our lifelong business.

sturdy and powerful; it IS a Mighty Mite
I have owned a Eureka Mighty Mite for nearly 15 years. It's been a real workhorse and I have never had a single problem. It's powerful and light. Mine is a little banged up from all the use I've given it, but I don't need a new one. I'm just here to sing its praises. I'm curious to know why the Mighty Mite is not available.

Decent for the money.
I got this at a fantastic price but don't expect too much. It's definitely cute looking but it is amazingly loud considering its poor-to-mediocre suction. The power cord is a little short too. I live in an apartment with hardwood floors and commercial-grade carpet so this unit meets my minimal vacuuming needs.

Very Pleased
Great little vacuum. Quiet and quite powerful. Does a great job on hard wood floors. Seems to do a good job on carpet as well. Perfect for the older home with lots of hardwood and a little carpet. Would definately recomend.

it sucks! in a good way.
I love this vacuum. I was looking for something that could darn near suck the sheetrock out of the walls, and this is it. Cleaning (hardwood floors, curtains, corners, hard-to-reach places...) will never be the same.

Works well on three types of floors
I have three types of flooring; vinyl, sealed wood and tile. This steamer does a fantastic job on all of them. Some people note a dulling of the surface of shiny vinyl; this is true, but since I have cats and their litter box in the laundry room with the vinyl floor, cleanliness is better than shine, any day. The steamer works well on tile, very well. The floors seem to stay cleaner than if wet-mopped. I also like the fact I can wash the cover (the "magic cloth" waffle weave cloth that fits over the bottom.) Some people note that the cloths wear out; hint--don't bother to throw the washed cover in the dryer. It will fit better over the mop and last longer.

Points off for the cloths being expensive and a bit hard to find, if you want spares. And a point off for it needing refilling, at least on large expanses of floors. Other than that, this is a great way to clean and sanitize the floors. I like it a lot.

The Best Cleaning Tool Invented Since the Vaccuum Cleaner!!
I detested cleaning the kitchen floor. I have tried numerous mops and sweepers and they have all failed me. They are messy and ultimately just end up pushing dirty water around the kitchen floor. After giving up on mops, I tried the old fashioned way of scrubbing on my hands and knees. This got the floor clean, but it took forever and was hard on my knees. I would also immediately dry each section I had scrubbed with paper towels. I used an entire roll everytime I cleaned the floors. I did this for years.
About four months ago I purchased the Eureka Enviro Steamer. I was a bit skeptical, after all, clean with just water and no detergent? It looked a bit like an electric mop..I hate mops!! I decided to take leap of faith and try it anyway, after all, if I didn't like it I could always return it.
I must say it is remarkable. It gets my floor fabulously clean, even in most hard to reach spots and yes, just using water (very little water at that). You still need to thoroughly sweep your floor first, but you have to do that before washing the floor anyway. What used to take me nearly an hour and a half (kitchen, laundry room and hallway)is now done in about 20 minutes. No mess, no paper towels, no detergent, no sore knees, no wasted time. Just wonderfully clean floors!!
I have tried alot of cleaning gadgets and products and this one definately rates among the top three I still own (...). I like this steamer so much I am now looking into a handheld steamer for cleaning the bathroom, windows, blinds and upholstered furniture. I am now a steam/vapor cleaning convert and will never go back to traditional cleaing methods again.

For people who hate to clean
I hate to clean, especially the floors in my bathroom and kitchen. The mop, the buckets, the dragging around from room to room: yuck! But I absolutely like clean floors and can't convince any one else to do them for me. My hairdresser was using this one day on her cutting room floor and I was amazed at how clean the floor was and effortless it was to use the steamer. I shopped around for comparison, but this is the only of its kind on the market now at an affordable price. I highly recommend it and am even considering the smaller one for counters and such. It cleans both my bath and kitchen in under five minutes and they dry immediately.

so loud my neighbors two houses over thought it was buzz saw
Incredibly loud machine. Which could mean good things in terms of its power, but the way it's built, the exhaust ends up blowing dust around where I'm trying to vacuum, which means you have to go over things twice and even three times, thus defeating the purpose of strong uptake. And the head is a joke: if it's not positioned exactly parallel to the floor, it won't pick everything up.

Finally, what lowers it from a two-star rating to a one-star rating: I haven't been able to find bags for this machine anywhere locally (I live in a large city, and K-Marts and Targets are close by too), nor does Amazon stock them. A real pain. This vacuum is a bust.

Did not meet my expectations
I bought this vacuum based on the following:
I am moving into a small apartment and I am a small person. Picking up upright vacuums is strenuous for me, and I didn't want to have to store something the size of an upright. Ideally, I wanted something that can clean all the floors of my apartment, tile and carpet without buying separate units. I was skeptical about buying a vacuum online, but it is from a reputable manufacturer, as my mom's steel olive green Eureka from the 70s continues to work well.

Oddly, I did not find the noise to be a problem, and the attachments stayed in place without any vibrations.

Here are my problems and disappointments with this vacuum:
The vacuum having a "floor brush" is misleading. There are no rotating bristles on this vacuum. While the suction is excellent on this vacuum, without a "brush" I do not feel the vacuum is really getting between the fibers of the carpet, and it is just vacuuming the surface.

The cleaning path of the floor attachment is not full width, it measures approximately 3/4" by 3" in the middle of the attachment. I believe a Black and Decker DustBuster has a larger cleaning path. Therefore, this vacuum does not have suction for the edges of the carpet, or against furniture. You will have to remove the floor attachment and use the nozzle to pick up debris close to baseboards.

Furthermore, it looks like in previous models the floor attachment locked onto the wand, and was released by pushing a button. On this model it does not lock onto the wand and comes off when I push the unit back and forth on a carpeted surface.

As this is a canister vac, sometimes it might bang into an object as it trails behind. The door to the bag chamber opened on me as a result.

The Mighty Mite would be fine if I had mostly barefloors with some small area rugs. Even better solution to this scenario though is the Dirt Devil Powerstick. The triangular floor attachment gets into corners and the suction is along the edges. The Powerstick is smaller and much more maneuverable.

A vacuum that really sucks
You will cry "Eureka" with delight if you buy this vacuum. Its 9 amps gives you sucking power very nearly equivalent to that of a traditional, full-size machine. Plus, it's very well-thought-out, and with its long hose and lots of attachments, it will take care of 90% of your vacuuming needs.

If you live in an apartment, this is really all you need. The only thing you can't do well or quickly is thick rugs. To do those rugs well, you'll have to get a big, "real" machine that costs three times as much. I'm withholding one star on the Mighty Mite because the vacuum attachment that comes with the machine is basically just a clip-on, and not a real electrified, spinning carpet attachment.

Some people have complained about the noise, but I think it's loud (of course! it's a vacuum!) but nothing at all to be concerned with.

Be careful on the price. I got gouged. Don't pay more than $100 whether you buy online or in a store. It's a great product, but don't get (here comes a pun) suckered.

OK
The steam leaves sludge on your floors. The waffle covers do not pick up anything and you have to wipe up behind with another towel. I have found it works better to use a terry cloth hand towel. If I had to do it over again, I would have bought the model that has a floor attachment as well as smaller ones for all jobs.

LOUD and bags are impossible to find
I suppose the most relevant thing to say about this cleaner is that replacement bags for this vacuum are VERY difficult to find even online and are expensive as a result. I had to resort to an eBay auction, which was still cheaper than buying retail, but nonetheless worked out to $3/bag. There is no indicator to tell you how full the bag is, but the machine starts losing suction about half-way full, so if you want a good cleaning you've got to have a fresh bag.

The tools are laughable, particularly the brush: after trying it out on the upholstery, I realized that the debris wasn't making it into the vacuum itself. The tape roller was more effective than the upholstery tools. And it's not an ergonomic machine, either. Changing tools or pulling apart the tubes requires real strength, which makes this machine unsuitable for people with arthritic or impaired grips.

Neither is there a tidy way to store the cord (no brackets or other notches): you just end up winding it around the vacuum.

Excellent little work-horse
I loved this little light cannister vacuum.
My first vacuum and I would buy it again

A good tool, but not a miracle maker
I often feel dizzy after cleaning the kitchen, since 409 makes me kind of high - but not in a good way. I decide to give this steam cleaner a try.

It cleans better than the chemical cleaners. However, for tough stuff like carbonized grease - you still have to scrub. Since you have to go through the area with steam instead of simply spraying chemicals, the cleaning may take a little bit longer as well.

It works wonderfully on glass, metal, and counter tops. Unfortunately, anything that is has a soft or rough surface has proven to be a challenge.

I wish this unit would hold more water. It would only produce steam for 7-10 minutes of cleaning. Then again, it is a hand held unit, more water will increase the weight of the device.

How can cleaning be fun???
Let's face facts, folks. I'm a 29 year old bachelor. I hate cleaning. I do it only when it becomes absolutely necessary, which usually happens when I'm waist deep in clutter and mess. Wherever the cleaning bug gene is that runs in most families, it made absolutely certain to skip me.

I had to clean my house before selling it recently, and I had to do the unthinkable. Yup, I had to actually exert myself in that one activity I hate more than anything else. And that'd be cleaning. Downcast and sullen, I labored through the task at hand with as much gusto as I could gather, but it wasn't until my folks, who were helping me in my endeavours, pulled out this wondrous device that the experience actually became good.

Pour water in it, plug it in and let it heat up. After some minutes pass, press the trigger and the hand steamer exerts a jet of high-powered steam that will remove any stain. Yes, any stain. I was so impressed with the demos my Mom was showing me that I had to try myself on the grunge on the kitchen floor. After a few sweeps I had to try on something else. So the front of my refrigerator became my next victim. After that I was looking around for something else...anything else. And as I began this on the dryer in the laundry room I realized that I was actually *enjoying* the experience.

This thing gets into cracks and crevices that noone could ever dream of getting to before, cleans them, and as a bonus sterilizes them completely. My bathroom is in cleaner, better shape now then it was when I first got the house!

There's several different attachments that you can put on the nozzle to make the steam come out at different angles, and others that can allow you to steam clean mirrors or flat surfaces. It is beyond easy to operate and is perversely enjoyable, even for a self proclaimed couch-potato such as myself. I recommend this for anyone wanting to get stains or dirt off of surfaces that nothing short of molecular acid and a brillo pad will remove. But don't be surprised if your husband/fiance'/boyfriend eventually steals it from you to do the task themselves. You might even see them smile as they work!

THE BEST HAIRSPRAY REMOVER
The Hot Shot Steamer is the best cleaner on the earth. Especially for the bathroom. The hairspray builds up on the vinyl floor and is very hard to remove, but the Hot Shot removes it with ease. And best of all, there's no chemicals...just add water and go.
