This vacuum had wonderful suction at first, but only lasted one year. Now I can only vacuum one room, and then it loses its power because it's overheating. It then starts spitting everything back out. It doesn't pick up anything of any size, such as small playground pebbles. This was a waste of money - I've bought a new vacuum and will just keep this one for the basement.

I have a Fantom cyclone and a thunder and they are the best vacuum ever. They pick up all the deep down dirt. Please go on ebay and by a Fantom Cyclone XT since the company is out of busness

Please go one ebay and buy one. If it isent as good as I say, you got a broken or cogged one. These vacuums are so good, I love my Fantom Thunder.

Save your time & money. I have Low to Low/Med Carpets and the motor would slow down and the brush would sometimes come to a complete stop. The light went out in the first month. To empty the container is a mess...you have to dig your hand into it and pull out the dirt or take the whole thing apart. It's very top heavy and will fall backwards...I could go on.
Believe it or not the best vacuum cleaner I ever had was the Thunder...that's why I bought the twister. Just returned from where I bought it (Thank God for their $20/4 yr policy) and they were very nice to exchange it...I just paid the difference. Don't even bother calling the Fantom company...you will go round and round with them. I now am the proud owner of a Hoover.

I am amazed at the poor reviews this vacuum has received. I have been a Fantom user since the Fury days and have loved every machine since. The suction on this machine ROCKS (at least on mine) and is evident by the continual amount of stuff this thing picks up even after I continue to go over the same spots.

The reviewer that indicates the filter inside the canister is a joke and they can't get their fingers between the canister and filter obviously DID NOT READ THE DIRECTIONS. If they had, they would realize that with one simple push of a button the filter slides out. Thus allowing for both of your hands to slide in the canister if you choose. The same reviewer also talks about the filter in the canister indicating that after a couple of hours it becomes clogged with fine particles. If the reviewer had READ THE DIRECTIONS, they would have realized this is what it called a washable pre-filter. That's right folks, washable. Just push that one button and the filter slides out for easly cleaning and washing. The machine actually comes with 2 washable pre-filters.

The wand is FANTASTIC with this model and I am truely impressed with the overall design. Yes it is a heavy vacuum, but it glides over the carpet with ease.

All in all, this vacuum was a great purchase for me and I'm glad someone has taken up the Fantom name and has done it justice.

I first want to say that I dont work for Euro-pro. Many people are accused when they give this vacuum a good rating. I am only 14 years old. I have alergies so know everything about vacuums and which have hepa filters. I have owned a Fantom Thunder, Fantom Cyclone XT, and a Fantom Lightning. They were Dual cyclonic mechines that keep you from lossing suction. We bought this Twister at K-Mart for $159.99. I bought the Extended warrenty since I have herd such bad things about the Euro-pro Fantom Twisters. I got it home and had it asembeled within 2 minutes. I decided to use my Fantom Thunder first and then go back over it with the twister. I vacuumed and went to use The Twister. First couple passes nothing in the canister. I start thinking that I will return it but continue vacuuming. Eventually there is something in the canster. When I finished I realised the problem. The vacuum came out of the box in the high carpet possion. I have really low carpet so that explanes it. I lowered the setting, vacuum again and go to empty it. Not much cat hair but some. But WOW there was a ton of dust. The carpet I vacuumed is a 5 by 7 area rug. Then I vacuumed my doormat. First pass black soil. The Thunder only got the pet hair and dust out but never soil. Then I vacuumed the other area rugs and had enought cat hair to make another cat. I love the bottom empting canister, and the Twister technoligy is so cool. One of my friends came over as I was just vacuuming and is like, "Cool, what kind of vacuum is that?How much was it? Where did you buy it?" Also It comes with an extra belt and if you buy it from K-Mart you get the $30.00 air driven turbo brush for free and still pay $20.00 less that anywhere else. You get five attachments which are the air driven turbobrush, crevis tool, dusting brush, a furniture attachment, and a extention wand.This is the best vacuum and the hepa filter is wonderful. Thought the old Fantom were Dual cyclonic, the Twister Technoligy does the same thing as the Dual Cyclonic Technoligy, which is constent strong suction. By the way I bought the Professional seriese which is just like this one but is supposidly better built.Please buy this vacuum but being the bad reviews I suggest you buy an extended warrienty.

the rotating brush on my fantom no longer rotates after less than a year of use. The customer service office is closed "until furthur notice" and the e-mail address for customer service cannot be displayed. I bought the fantom for the filter system and because it is lightweight enough to carry upstairs, but its useless now because i cant find a place to get it repaired.

When I bought this vacum, I had real high expectations because of previous Fantoms that I had owned in the past. Fantom has really gone downhill, because this thing is junk. First, it seems to clog up all the time, I am constantly cleaning the filter out. Second the piece that holds the floor attachment broke off when I slightly bumped something! So it must not of been very well put together! Im giving this thing 2 stars, which is being nice... go buy a Hoover!

I am a very picky - some would say almost finicky - housekeeper and I can highly recommend this product. You can vacuum your carpet with your present vacuum and then pick up some much more dirt with the Fantom. The hepa filter feature and bagless system are the best. I wouldn't use any other product. I have one for every floor in my house. THE BEST!!

I bought this thinking it would be great for my upholstered furniture since it has a brush head and a HEPA filter. I have 3 cats at home and this vacuum doesn't do ANYTHING. It's loud - that's about it. Sounds good and looks good, but a waste of money. You can get better cleaning results using a tooth brush on your furniture.

I agree with the last review. The first two reviewers almost convinced me not to get this unit but it was one of the few still out there with a powered brush. DO NOT GET AN AIR DRIVEN BRUSH UNIT! They stop rotating as soon as you contact something. I took the plunge and bought it (though not thru amazon, I found it locally on sale).

The filter is easy to clean. A bit messier than bags but you don't have to keep replacing it either. As for the suction, it has as much as any other decent hand vac if the filter is cleaned frequently. Does a great job getting pet hair off the furniture and cleaning up our occassional spills. I would recommend it.

I read the other reviews and didn't find the complaints familiar. I bought the FM430 and have used it for almost a year (I have a big dog who sheds) and found it useful for the stairs and the upholstery (and my bedcover, or should I say, my dog's bedcover...). The only reason folks might have had issues with the suction is that the filter clogs with grit and dirt easily. I always washed it out after every use using the sprayer on my kitchen sink with something like Formula 409 and hot water, and the unit performs very well every time. Only thing is, the filter can take a day to dry even when set in front of the forced air heating vent, so I will probably buy another filter for interim use. One other thing that I found helpful: with the attached hose / brush, I wrap a band of plant velcro around the bristles when not is use to keep the bristles in proper shape (otherwise they end up all ratty looking, but no surprise there, I think that would happen with almost any long-bristled unit).

I've owned 2 previous Fantoms and was very pleased with their performance and durability. Yes...I did pay more for them. However, this vacuum is living proof that--YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!! It is a HORRIBLE vacuum. I spend more time bending over with the hose that releases from the bottom...my back is shot. Their nifty "quick release" canister??? A TOTAL JOKE!! You still have to stick your hand in there to get all the lint, hair, etc. from out of it. Oh, did I mention that after you vacuum an area and think you're done...you only turn around to see some of what you just vacuumed mysteriously ends up behind you! Auto-height adjustment?? Great if you have shag carpeting from the '70s. Anything shorter and you're out of luck. DON'T WASTE YOUR $$$$. I just bought the DYSON ANIMAL from Target/Amazon website. After reading ITS customer reviews--I EAGERLY await it's arrival!!! I'd rather pay $500 and get what I expect!!

I have had my old Fantom Fury for at least 8 years and it is still going strong. It was so great for dog hair that I have recommended it to everyone I know with pets. About 6 months ago I saw the new Fantom's and decided I'd get another so I didn't have to keep carrying the old one up and down the stairs. While the new one does have great suction like the old one, it is much more cumbersome to use. It is a lot harder to empty it, harder to maneuver around things, and under things and the on-board tools are harder to use because the hose doesn't stretch well. If you get more than a foot away from it, it falls over. Plus, it is much heavier than the old one. The dirt never comes all the way out of the canister and the dog hairs get stuck in there. Plus, it has gotten clogged more times in 6 months than the old one did in 8 years. This one is also not made as well. One wheel will not stay on ours. I definitely would NOT recommend this new product. I now know why this sells for less than the old ones did.

I haved tried several types of Euro Pro Vacuums (hand-held's, small portables. etc.) and everyone of them is cheaply made, doesn't last, and not worth the money. I've had Fantoms is the past and loved them. Since Euro Pro bought out Fantom the quality went down the [sewer.] The biggest problem is the filter and dust container design. The dust container is triangular and the inner filter is round. As soon as dust starts to accumulate it can't freely move in the dust container requiring it to be emptied (very frequently) due to sudden loss in suction power. Spinning the filter to clean does not completely remove the dust from the filter screen. I have to use an old toothbrush to remove the dust. Very messy. Very disappointed with product and Euro Pro. I will never buy any type of appliance from Euro Pro again.

I was very excited when we purchased our Fantom Crosswinds from Overstock.com...(for around $180-200) it's nice-looking and from the features it offers, we thought we had found a goldmine for a vacuum. After only cleaning one room, we noticed it began to lose power, overheat and shut itself off. Sooo, we're left standing there with many more rooms needing vacuuming. Uh, okay, what do we do now? Well, we checked the filters, read the manual and it explains that if it should overheat (if??) you will need to check and clean the filters after every use. Well, in our case every use meant after one room of use!!! This is VERY annoying and a complete and utter waste of money and time because the manual also states that your vacuum should cool down and be ready for use again in a few hours! That's a lie!! Our Fantom will not even power up again unless we wait 24 hours!! So, if you can picture this: a washed out filter lying on the edge of the bathroom tub (which has to stay there for 24 hours to completely dry before we can use it again) and a "dead" overheated vacuum which won't work for 24 hours...after only cleaning 1 small room area. This is what we deal with with our Fantom!! We will NEVER buy another Fantom again!! I cannot believe this company has so eloquently deceived the public with their more-than-phenominal infomercials into believing their products are any better than a $70 upright my husband bought over 20 years ago! We still use that old upright--(not that I want to, but we have to because of the Fantom)--the old Hoover still works, yes, it's very loud (I call it "Old Bessy" because it moans like a cow) and we do have to change bags and belts when they break, but at least we can vacuum the house without waiting 24 hours to do one more room! I urge everyone NOT to buy Fantom products! NEVER!

I bought this vacuum aboot 4-5 months ago. The biggest problem I've run into is that if the 2 filters are not kept absolutely clean, the vacuum clogs. Even worse the company is now out of business. I tried getting replacement filters from my local store and they told me they can't get them because Fantom is out of business. Go figure Enron and now Fantom! So I've been left to devise my own rigged filters to keep this thing running. My wife will never let me choose appliances again!!!

Ok firt I have owned 2 different FANTOMS well kind of 3. A fantom fury and a fantom lightning and they are both still great but slowly dying after the years of labor they have gave me. the almost 3RD but it is a westinghouse wired DELUX same as fantom CW600 and I love it. It is by far one of the best machines I'v owned. yes fantom is out of business but there are plenty of carriers of fantom parts on the internet if you even need any. [which I havent] my machines have only gotten cloggeg a couple times [ONLY THE FURY] the reason for this is that I have a long haires bichon in my house and the fury was an older model [the first fantom] and I gues it was a faulty design problem that was worked out before they made they next models [thunder, lightning, cyclone xt, and all crosswinds and special editions]. I was able to unclog it by simply opening the flap in the back on the bottom and removing the hair. I belive that after all the service I have recieved from my vacuums that fantom is the BEST!!!!!!!!!

Although it has good suction and a power head.... It topples over all the time while vacuuming, gets clogged and my power head went dead and no one can fix or replace it.... so that's it! I only used it 6 times in 1 year, since I have maid service. Worst ever! This was my second and last Fantom!

I bought this vacuum because I owned the Fantom Fury upright and thought it was great, but wanted a canister. It seemed perfect- bagless, hepa, light, etc. It is the worst vacuum I've ever had. My dustbuster has more suction. The parts are made of cheapo plastic. The "adjustable suction" nob keeps opening. The body keeps flipping over. The retractable cord keeps sticking. The worst part is that dust gets so caked onto the filter that I have to scrape each ridge with a toothpick between each use, or there's no suction at all. Today I plugged it in, and it didn't turn on. I just bought this piece of junk 3 months ago. This is the first review I've ever written, but I felt I had to warn everyone.

My mom makes me vacuum the carpets and the tile floors a lot. When our very old Kenmore canister's engine burnt out we needed a very good and powerful vacuum fast. Our floors get very dirty and we have shag carpet in the basement. Its best feature that didn't come on out old vac is the hard floor cleaning tool. I was looking at the reviews all the other people wrote and they don't know what they are talking about!! I really thing you should consider this canister vac.

I bought this vacuum at a local wholesale store today. I brought it home, put it together, and vacuumed for about five minutes until the hose ripped. I'll be returning it this evening. I didn't realize it was made by Euro-Pro, the same people who make the Shark line of products--which I was also disappointed with. The other vacuum didn't have much suction, and wasn't worth the money. Look elsewhere to spend your money, this brand is all Lemon!

This vacuum is just not as powerful as it boasts to be. I always felt it was inferior, but getting a second opinion sealed it. I had my grand piano tuned, and the tuner asked to borrow the vacuum to clean out some dust. When I gave him this fantom to use, he told me "you have a pretty weak vacuum here". It couldn't even efficiently clean dust from a piano. the vacuum is only 6 months old, but I can't take it back, so I'm going to put an ad in the paper to get rid of it. Another thing is I find it difficult to store in a closet, and a pain to drag around. I'll be going back to an upright model, and I'm open to suggestions. :O)

We were seduced to buy a Falcon bagless by the stylish European design and the good reputation of HEPA filter. What we've got really stinks... but not exactly in a sense we expected it. It is as noisy as a Russian bomber and requires almost as much care as a newborn baby (clean pre-engine filter and HEPA filter after each use, buy new filters every 3 to 6 months). And the cleaning of the dust container and HEPA filter is a pure pain -- you need a gas mask for that. On top of that all, our Falcon was not flying high -- it broke down on the second use. When we checked the instruction for a list of repair centers, it turned out that there aren't any -- they want you to mail the whole thing to them, pay for the shipping and insurance and send them money.. to cover costs of shipping it back.
Isn't that what nightmares are about?
