Great Vacuum!
Excellent! We have 3 cats in our household so I clean several times a week. I filled the canister with cat "fuzz" just from the family room. I never realized just how poorly my old vacuum cleaned, or else this one cleans better than imaginable. The bagless feature is great, not only is it easy to remove and dump but I like the dial that cleans the hepa filter. You just turn the dial and dump the dust that is brushed off the filter, and there was a lot of dust! I never had a bagless vacuum before, but when I dumped the canister, I saw that I had vacuumed up some change and the back of an earing. If I had used a bagged model they would have been thrown away.
The hand held tools are so easy to use. Just put the hoover in the upright position and the suction goes to the hose. Everything is so easy and straight forward even my husband could use it without ever looking at the manual first. I don't think I will ever enjoy vacuuming, but now I don't consider it a chore.

Belt replacement
NOT FOR THE WEAK!!You'll soon see why the "self-propelled" feature is so important.
It has performed well, though...cleaning up after 3 cats and 2 dogs. The bags are expensive and the final HEPA filter is about 8-9 bucks, but worth it if you're trying to stay one step ahead of the pet hair.
Other than the excessive weight, there are a couple of other things that make using this vacuum a chore...
The hose is ridiculously short and this thing will tip easily, so trying to reach under furniture with an attachment becomes risky business and being thumped in the head by the handle gets old fast.
The carpet height adjustment is located on the front of the machine and it is a sliding bar. Trying to adjust for carpet heights is no easy task. You have to stop the machine, go around to the front and the little lever gives a fight before it surrenders. I generally just turn it off to make this itty-bitty adjustment.
The body is large and bulky and doesn't cruise around furniture easily. Cumbersome.
The little headlight on the front is nifty and the embedded dirt finder is pretty cool, too.
All in all, it does what a vacuum cleaner is made to do, however, this is not a machine for everyone. Hauling this big boy out every day for a quick clean-up is no delight. I would recommend this machine when Hoover has trimmed about 8-10 pounds off of its weight and has streamlined the design a little bit.
Hope this helps someone. :-)
It was the best of vacs, it was the worst of vacs. And then, the belt came off. And then it came off. And came off. And...you get the picture. And I know this is not unusual for this model. So, we're bailing. I have a Thermax canister as well that's terrific for cleaning, but like calf-roping to use.

- Self-propelled forward and backward; captures dirt in cup instead of bag
- Dirt sensor; powered hand tool; headlight for 15-inch cleaning path
- Anti-allergen HEPA filter; pre-filter; washable final filter
- Carpet-height adjustments with bare-floor setting
- Extra-long stretch hose; upholstery, dusting, crevice tools; two extension wands"

Hoover Bagless? We call it the Hoover Worthless! Each time we started the Hoover, we first had to position the suction hose near the dirt cannister to catch the dust that flew out whenever the unit was first turned on. With 2 cats, we too were lured by advertising hoopla into the idea that this unit could handle the cat hair. Sure it can, but it means replacing an expensive ($30) filter about 6 to 8 times a year. You do the math - in a couple of years the cost of filters exceeds the cost of the Hoover!
Cleaning the "bagless cannister" is very messy, make sure you do it outside and on a calm day! We'll take a "bag type" anyday!
We've noticed that in all the Hoover bagless advetising we've seen on tv, The person using the bagless Hoover is picking up what looks like confetti. That's right, little pieces of paper. Not dirt, pet hair. etc. Any vac can pick up pieces of paper!
Great picker upper but.........fragile

Another disappointing vacuum for the bucksLike so many others here on Amazon, my main problem is with the errant dust and dirt flying when you empty the dirt canister--it sends me into sneezing fits. The canister is removed easily enough, but it's very obvious that the filter is not thoroughly cleaned, and it's also a messy process. I'm keeping it (inertia is a powerful force), but I wouldn't recommend this vacuum. Keep looking!
Makes vacuuming easy!!!
It makes this husband want to vacuumI told my wife that we could either by a[less expensive] vacuum cleaner every other year -- which requires continual purchases of vacuum bags -- or we can spend a little more for a good bagless vacuum cleaner that will last five or more years.
We bought the WindTunnel V2 (U8130-900) and we do not reget spending one penny of the price. We immediately saw the difference in the cleaning power of the wind tunnel. They are a little heavier then other upright cleaners, but its performance more than makes up for the extra weight. Since most of the uprights are 12 Amps, I know the the amount of Amps does not disclose the amount of suction power a cleaner has. Hoover has a numbering system that gives you a rating of the suction power. The higher the number the greater the suction. This allows you to compare the cleaning power of all of its models. The highest I've seen so far is a rating of 31. The V2 has a rating of 29.0 -- plenty of power. It also is beltless, no more burning smell because your belt is not properly turning; or having to go search for a store that sells the right belt for your particular brand and model. As mentioned in most review of this model, its canistor is large enough to hold plenty of dirt and allows you to dispose of the dirt from one side without removing the HEPA filter which is housed in the opposite side of the dirt container. The handle is well designed with its power button within reach of your fingertip. It also has an oval opening at the top of the handle that allows it to be lifted. The handle reclines parallel to the floor which makes cleaning uder furinture a little easier. It also has a switch to turn of the beater brushes while cleaning the floor. Although my vacuum cleaner is fairly new, 5 Sept 02, and has not been battle test by time, I do know the various filter prevent any dust or odors from being released. This makes for cleaner air, which is good for any alergy victims or thoughs who have babies and small children about the house.
The only things I wish Hoover would have added are the power hand brush, an extra hose and a retractable power cord. The handbrush can be purchased as an accessory and comes with the higher WindTunnel V2 model which cost [a bit more]. The higher V2 model is essentially the same vacuum cleaner except that it comes with the powered brush and can be used with or without a bag; I assume the bag would provide added filtration. The power brush also comes with a lower model that is not a V2 and has a suction rating of 27. The extra hose would be handy for dusting high spaces, cleaning stairs, or getting around the interior of your vehicle. Since I have to nit-pick to find a few cons, it says a lot about this vacuum cleaner.
In conclusion, I recommend this vacuum cleaner to those who could afford to put up the money for it. If the WindTunel's quality is as good and long lasting as many people have told me, in the long run it should save you money -- no bags, no belts, and no [lower priced] vacuum cleaners ever few years. it's enough to make a husband want to vacuum; it has in this family.

Worst Hoover Yet
Not what I expected from a HooverI ALSO STRONGLY DON'T RECCOMMEND THE BAGGED, or any bagged with this design. The bag is very small so I end up changing it all the time, and it is very akward to get in. I also read the reviews for the bagless and they had the same problems with melting as the bagged (reccommend you read these also- theres more of them).
I am surprised hoover let this vacuum get out their store.
It sucks ...... up the dirt

Though I know it may not be necessary for those without a Hoover Upright vacuum cleaner, and that they must be bought for a Hoover user, these are still good bags. If you are thinking of buying a vacuum cleaner, you should consider not only the power and quality of its cleaning power, but how easy it is to clean it's container or change its bags. And Hoover makes changing bags easy, plus the bags are quite strong. Did you ever see those garbage bag commercials where they test bags by rolling them down a hill? Well, these bags are stronger.
A great dirt bag shouldn't be a reason to buy the Hoover Vacuum, which is a great vacuum by the way, but it should be one of the considerations you make.
